Problem pasting Acrobat snapshot in PSPX4

Post by Timo »

I have a problem pasting an Adobe Acrobat snapshot as new picture in PSP4. Pasting it directly e.g. to MS Word works fine, but I would need some of the snapshots also as a jpg file.

I use the Adobe Acrobat X (ver 10.1.2) Standard snapshot tool to copy a picture and then try to paste it to PSP4 as new image. The result is every time the same: about 7 mm slice from the right is moved to the left side of the image. See attachment.

What can cause this problem?

Timo
The attached file is an example showing 7 mm slice from right side of the image on the left side.

Why not use PSPX4 with its screen capture program.
File > Import > Screen Capture > Setup and after setting the requirements go back to main window, Shift C, minimises PSP, bring up your chart on the screen, use the hot key or right click whichever you have set up for the capture and that screen or part will appear in PSPX4 workspace and can be further cropped and saved as a jpg image.

I'm not sure what causes it. And I don't see it myself with X5 and Reader 11. Of course that means nothing.

So all I can offer is a work around if you don't already have one.

One option, would be to simply correct the image after it's pasted. This is especially true if the image is always offset the same amount. If the offset is always the same then use of a preset or script could make the whole process almost painless. Just go to the Effects -> Image Effects -> Offset.

And see if the same value will work across multiple images grabbed from Acrobat this way. If so, you can record a script that 1) Pastes as New Image and 2) Offsets by specified amount.

Then anytime you want to paste in a new image from Acrobat Reader you just run that script and it'll handle the dirty work for you.

Thank you for the advise. I tried with PSPX4 screen capture tool and it works fine without any offset.

I still have no idea why it doesn't work with Acrobat's snapshot tool to PSPX4. I didn't have this problem with older versions of PSP and Acrobat. I also tried with Reader X, same result. I think I'll check back home with my own computer and Reader 11.
