Fuji X100s RAW support?

Post by Sorensiim »

After 6 years of using Canon DSLRs I've jumped ship and my Fuji X100s arrived yesterday. Absolutely phenomenal camera, but the raw files are not supported in Corel Aftershot Pro! I've installed a trial version of Lightroom 5, but after years and years as a Bibble Pro user I find LR to be slow as molasses and very, very unintuitive to use. Is there somewhere I can upload raw files for profiling or something? Do I need to shoot specific test charts?

I've been using my Fujifilm X100S for 5 months now in JPG mode,
and would really like to use it in RAW mode w/ AfterShot Pro.

In the mean time...
I've discovered the (free) LightZone V4.0.0 _does_ process X100S .RAF files, producing .JPG
files higher in quality and smaller in size than the in-camera FINE .JPG images.

So I'm in a situation similar to when I traded-in my Nikon D700 for a Nikon D600.
AfterShot Pro didn't support the D600 for many months, and so I switched to darktable
during that period. Honestly, I had though that AfterShot Pro was never going to be updated,
and I was delighted to return to AfterShot Pro when D600 support was finally added.
AfterShot Pro has much better performance than darktable.

Maybe I'll return again when AfterShot Pro supports the X100S.

I'm using AS version 1.2.0.7 and I'm able to import and edit my Fuji x10 and X100 RAF files without any problems.

I also hope the new version of ASP will be compatible with the new Fuji camera's, especially the x100s and Tr 1, as I'm going to use them next to my Nikons.

But X100S is so much different than X100. I think that different sensor layout causes most converters to fail it, while this is one if it strengths - difference between XTrans and Bayer - but while most others use standard Bayer layout (2x2 pattern instead of 6x6) it causes all those issues.

Anyway, open source converter tool/library DCRAW supports X100S (since 2013-06-01), and it is used by lot of other converters around, so when they update to latest version they might get XTrans support soon. I hoped to see X100S on supported camera list for ASP2, but still no single XTrans camera, even when you had reference implementation that was open source for almost a year...
ArchLinux - simply the best
