Hallo,
I have hundreds of paper based photos, damaged in color disperse caused by a flood in our basement. I cleaned and dried them all, and I made a digital copy with my mobile phone camera. I'm using PSP X5 to resize the photos and I used "intelligent correction" from PSP. Result of copy is now better than the original, but the color disperse is still there and I have no idea, if there is a way to reduce this damage with PSP (see the blue colored areas in uploaded sample picture ).

Re: PSP X5 - retouch of photos with color disperse failures
Adjust>Color>Fade Correction is a good place to start.
As for the the blue stripes, using the Clone Tool might help in one or two instances, but unfortunately it will be almost impossible to correct.
I would also suggest using a scanner instead of a telephone camera.
Scan at a high resolution for more detail, it will make retouching a lot easier.

Re: PSP X5 - retouch of photos with color disperse failures
Joëlle,
thank you for this hint. My telephone camera uses a resolution of 1360x1848 Pixel, 72x72dpi. My "old" scanner can gives on standard 99x99dpi up to 600x600dpi . It was also a lot of work to make 700 and more photos of all pictures with camera and with scanner it is a lot of more work, because I always have to put in the photo, make several steps on computer to select scanner, make a scan, wait more time than a click and than put in the next picture (needs at all the 10th multiple work). I think this can only be done for some few pictures.
"Adjust>Color>Fade Correction" I will try. If there are good results, I also will try it with a picture from scanner. I will agree, completely I cannot correct the failures, but a little bit better quality would be nice.
Could you please translate "Fade Correction" to german (something like "verblassen"), so I can find it in my german PSP X5 menues

Google will translate for you. Fade Correction = verblassen Korrektur. It's under Adjust -> Color -> Fade Correction.

...And with a modest use of the cloning tool (I wasn't sure what the big coloured blob in the left of screen, about half way down, was supposed to be, so I left it):

ok, very well.
the big coloured blob in the left of screen, about half way down was not supposed, it is also an color canceling through dirty water.
