Every time I delete a video clip from the timeline the music track gets deleted as well. How can I avoid deleting the music track? Sorry if this is a basic question.
Thanks.

Hello and welcome.
well that's certainly not supposed to happen - exactly what procedure are you using to delete the clips.
are you making sure that only the video clip you want to delete is selected - that is surrounded by yellow lines - everything with a yellow border will be deleted when you press delete - so first click in a blank space to deselect every thing and then click on just the bit you want to delete.
if you are already doing that then please tell us a bit more about how you are deleting bits of video

Re: Deleting a clip from timeline in VSPx6
Thanks for the super quick reply.
I'm only selecting the video clip that I want to delete (surrounded by the yellow box). Nothing else is selected.
I've even tried turning off visibilty of the music track but even so, the music clip below the video clip I want to delete also gets deleted - as if it's linked.
The particular music clip took a lot of fiddling to get the crossfade right at the start so I don't really want to have to re-do it.
Thanks.

OK - the other option is that you have ripple editing enabled and by deleting the video the audio doesn't know where to go and is removed.
try disabling ripple editing while you delete the video clip.
