Is it just me?

Post by Peekay »

The website TopTenReviews shows that Corel Paintshop ProX5 is the no. 1 product. This of course is totally untrue. Here is my experience.

I have on that recommendation bought it.
1. Firstly it crashed on my first session.
2. Secondly - it is very complicated and user unfriendly.
3. I could not lodge a ticket because their database is messed up because it does not accept new email addresses or it cannot retrieve existing ones.
4. Support at Corel did not want to talk to me as I have bought it to Hermansteet through which it is sold.
5. Hermanstreet did not want to refund me because I could not obtain a ticket number.
6. I have again phoned the support at Corel and the guy there did not want to give me an email address to correspond with them. He promised to phone me back but never did.
These people mislead consumers. I would not place Corel Paintshop ProX5 under the top 10.

I would like to start off by saying, I've never heard anything good about HermanStreet so I've always stayed away. Though in its defense HermanStreet does have an A- with the Better Business Bureau.

On average Corel has far fewer complaints than Hermanstreet. With an A+ rating.

--------------

Provided Hermanstreet is an authorized reseller of the downloadable version then so long as you register the product you are guaranteed a 90 day warranty with support.

If you have not registered your software yet:

To register the product you must create a new account with Corel. Go to their website, click "sign in" and there will be an option to create a new account with them. Then register your software.

If you have, then you should be able to login to your account at Corel.com and get a warranty support call setup.

-------------------

Why would you buy a downloadable version of a software from someone who isn't the company? Heck the Corel.com website for me is showing that it's the same price from Corel as from Hermanstreet.

All software is complicated if you don't want to spend time to learn how to use it.
Having used Paint Shop Pro since version 5, I don't find it as complicated now as I did at the beginning. :-)

I too have used a number of editing programs and started with PSP when it was owned by JASC. At this stage I find it pretty easy to use and intuitive (although it still does a ton of things that surprise me.) As to crashing.... I've had many problems in the past with all kind of programs not installing, loading, crashing, not working etc. etc. I haven't found PSP to be worse than other programs. But that's me. We all judge by our own experience.
Adverts for Corel products when you close PSP don't bother me.

It's not just you, Peekay, I too have had a bad experience with Corel but...
I wouldn't buy anything after reading the reviews from only 1 non-Corel site.

1. I bought the CD package directly from Corel back in 2011.
2. I couldn't get Paintshop Photo Pro X3 to install properly; so was never able to use it.
3. I was able to lodge 3 different tickets addressing this uninstall/install issue.
4. Corel Help and Support is more like Hinder and Sidestep.
4a. Auto-Responce w/ links is NOT help or support.
5. After 11 days of wrestling with this POS, and Corel, I received my RMA#.

I wouldn't use another Corel product... even if it was free!

Interesting comment, which makes me wonder why your are posting in a Corel forum, or is just me..

Am I using another Corel product by posting here?

Where else can I agree with other dissatisfied Corel customers?

... or is just me..
