Luminance Masks

Post by Richie »

Hi all,

I'm new to this board. Right now I use Photoshop but I'm interested in switching to PSP. Unfortunately I was not able, using the trial version, if somethings very important is possible with PSP: Self feathering masks using the Luminance values. Because English is not my native language, so its difficult to describe for me. Because of that I think it's better to link to the best tutorial for photoshop I found (From Tony Kuyper):

http://goodlight.us/writing/luminositym ... sks-1.html

So the question is:
Can this also be done in PSP??

I don't know if it's exactly the same. But you could try this.

When you create a mask inside of PSP you have a few options. "Show All" "Hide All" "Show Selection" "Hide Selection" and "From Image."

To create a Luminance Mask you will want to select "From Image" you can then select any image that is currently open inside of PSP to create a mask from.

In the dialog select "Source Luminance" this will create a mask based on the luminance of the image you're using to create the mask.

I demonstrate this method in the following video

Hope these help.
