but it is good to hear you have resolved your problem and are up and running - we're ready for your questions :D
Hello Brian here is your first question. I saved a video game capture using MSI Afterburner in Windows AVI and it plays OK in Windows Media Player but VSX5 says its unable to open the file with the numbers [17101:7:1] in the bottom corner of the dialog box.
Any ideas?

We doesn't necessarily mean ME

but we need to know a bit more about the video before we can offer any advice - ideally we would like you to put the video in the timeline of VS and right click and choose "properties" and show us the result - BUT - if you can't get the video into VS that's not possible.

So have you got - or can you download the free Gspot programme from here :- http://www.afterdawn.com/software/audio ... /gspot.cfm

be careful you don't get the AVG toolbar as well. - then use it to open the video file and show us the result so we see something like my image below - then someone may be able to help you.

I realise this may be just a wording issue but to be sure……..

How are you trying to open the video clip. ?
The Open command is used to open a project file.

You should be Inserting the clip to the library or timelines.
Right click the timeline and choose Insert Video
Browse for your files.

Your video is “Motion Jpeg” that should be supported using Video Studio.
The properties look ok to me.

MJpeg is available as a compression type for AVI, view the Custom option or Make Movie Templates Manager.
MJpeg I think ar quite large as video file go

Microsoft AVI files
24 bits, 1280 x 720, 30 fps
Frame-based
MJPEG Compressor
PCM, 48.000 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo
