I have tried to burn a Blu-Ray disc with 2 movie clips but am having problems with the playback. If I select any chapter from the first movie clip then the playback correctly beings at that point. However, if I select any chapter from the second movie clip then playback always starts at the beginning of the first clip. This means I have no way of viewing my second movie clip. I also tried burning the disc with no chapters, but am still unable to play the second clip - it always starts playing the fist clip
Everything works properly when I preview the menu but after burning to the disc I get this problem.
I am using the trial version of x6 at the moment and was planning on purchasing next week, but won't be able to use the software without resolving this issue.
Does anybody have any ideas of how to resolve this please?

Re: VideoStudio x6 Blu-Ray won't play second movie clip
Hi
And welcome to the forums………….
Can you give a little more info on the way you have burned the disc.
There are a few approaches in burning a disc.
After launching Video Studio, nothing in the timeline did you immediately do Share Create Disc-Bluray
This opens the burner module, here you can Add Media Files.
Did you add your video files here.
For each file added a link will be added to the Title Menu.
Did you then Create Chapters for each Title.
When you play the disc by selecting one of the "titles" the Chapter menu will be accessed allowing you to choose a start point (chapter) to play the movie, choosing a chapter point will play the movie to the end. It will then either return to menu or continue to play the next title, the Title options are set using the navigation controls via the Project Settings cogwheel. (Lower Left)
To save on Coasters, from the final window choose to create a Disc Image, this ISO file can be played using VLC player, menus and all. At least you can check out the functionality of the movie before burning a disc. Bluray discs are not cheap.

Re: VideoStudio x6 Blu-Ray won't play second movie clip
Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Here is the process I followed:
1) Created a project containing many small clips all linked together with transitions, titles, etc. The files in this are all .mts AVCHD files shot on a Canon camcorder. This is intended to be one title on the disc (the second title)
2) I then used Share - Create Disc - Blu-Ray within this project
3) On the first screen I added another media file, which is an MPEG file that was shot on an older Sony camcorder
4) I used the Move Left option to make this the first title (leaving my original project video as the second title)
5) I then used the Add/Edit Chapter option to create my chapters for both titles (automatic for the first title and manual for the second)
6) Then added a menu using one of the provided 8 Blu-Ray menus and tested using the Preview
7) Finally I used the Burn Disc option
When I use the Preview at any point in this process all works as expected, but when the disc is burned, I can only play the first title (the one created from the MPEG). I can start this from any of my chapter points and it works OK. However, if I try to select the second title from the menu (any chapter points within it), the disc starts playing the first title from the beginning, instead of playing the selected second title
I have just tried to burn as an ISO image as suggested but I do not have that option (it is disabled). I can choose "Create Blu-ray folders" - will this option help me to avoid wasting discs?
Thanks
Rob

Re: VideoStudio x6 Blu-Ray won't play second movie clip
Hi Rob
Sorry for confusion regarding ISO files, that option is used for Standard Definition discs DVD not Bluray.
Creating a Bluray folder will certainly test the burning process however we do not know how to play these folders. There have been some recent posts regarding this issue. Unless you know of software that will play the BDMV folders with menu, otherwise you risk making those coasters.
It would appear to be some problem with the conversion process of the project files, (Convert Title stage), I can only suggest that you render the project (Second Title) to a Bluray file, Share Create Video File-Bluray.
Then start a new project and with the timeline empty do Share Create Disc – Bluray—Add Media adding both your video files., do not add project files.
If your Mpeg First Title is not a Bluray compliant you may wish to convert that to Bluray.
When you finally press burn the process should start with Convert Menu, rather than Convert Title, The video files being compliant do not need further conversion.

Hi
You may be able to create the Bluray Folder saved to USB memory stick to play on the TV.
I know Ken uses a USB but don’t think he creates the menu, simply plays the HD files. Whether the menu would work I don’t know.
I’m sure Ken will comment on the issue

Now awake in the antipodes!!

Then when you have the new file, start a new project. Don't bother about giving it a name -- the objective is merely to clear the editing timeline. Then select Share > Create Disc > Blu-Ray. The burning module will open and it should be empty. If there is anything there, delete it. Then manually add the new mpeg-derived file, then the new, single AVCHD file. In the Options cogwheel icon in the bottom left of the burning screen, make sure the box "Do not convert compliant MPEG files" is ticked. (An AVCHD file is actually an mpeg-4 clip.) Then build your menu, including chapters, and burn.
I'm not really able to advise on use the Blu-Ray folder option, since as Trevor has already said, software players seem to have trouble with the menus. This is curious in its own right since if you create such a folder for an AVCHD "hybrid" disc (i.e. AVCHD burned in that format and in a Blu-Ray structure, but to a standard DVD rather than Blu-Ray disc), you can in fact play the menus in VLC, at least and also, I seem to recall, in the Nero player.
EDIT: since writing the foregoing, I have done a bit of research which directed me to the DVDFab Media Player. I have installed the trial version and as far as I can see will play the menu of a Blu-Ray folder, with one caveat so far. It would appear to require you to use the keyboard arrow keys and Enter key and not the mouse to access the menu options which appear on the menu (Play Movie, Select Chapters etc). Using the mouse brings up the Player controls themselves which mostly cover the based of the menu and its options so you can't access them that way. But I have now tested it on two BDMV folders I happened to have on my computer, and both menus worked just fine (with the keyboard).
One other comment: the DVDFab Media Player interface is very simple. It seems to only have one icon which somewhat misleadingly is labelled "Open File". However, when you click on that, you can then in fact click on a stored Blu-Ray BDMV folder and the menu for the disc then appears (after a brief wait).
For the trial version, there is a 30 day period, when it apparently becomes the 'free version', according to the DVDFab blurb. This apparently means it will play files and folders (with menus), but no actual discs inserted in a computer Blu-Ray drive... The paid version, which will play actual discs, is $49.99.

That is certainly one way of going about this. But since your video originals for that project are AVCHD, that format is already Blu-Ray compliant. So you could (should?) also finish editing that project and select Share > Create Video File > AVCHD (one of the preset options) or Same As First Video Clip (if indeed the first clip is AVCHD). As Trevor suggested, it would probably be wise to also convert the mpeg first clip to Blu-Ray before opening the burning module.I can only suggest that you render the project (Second Title) to a Bluray file, Share Create Video File-Bluray.

Re: VideoStudio x6 Blu-Ray won't play second movie clip
Hi
Thanks Ken
Interesting that VLC Plays AVCHD menus, I will give that a try. Obviously the menu files must be different to Bluray folders.
I did try a BDMV folder via a usb stick, no go, it would play the Mts files but no menu, guess you need the files on disc.
A little poor that we cannot play these folders to check the quality, whats the point in making a BDMV folder if you can’t do anything with it?
Thanks Ken

Re: VideoStudio x6 Blu-Ray won't play second movie clip
I have now been able to successfully burn my Blu-Ray. As suggested, I used the Create Video file option to convert both the older MPEG file and the new project containing the .mts files to Blu-Ray format files (Blu-Ray H.264 1920 x 1080), and then used a new project to put these two new files and the menu onto the disc, which now behaves as expected and allows me to start playback from any chapter point in either of the videos.
Thanks very much for the speedy assistance
