Problems with Canon 5D Mark III's videos

Post by Raulin »

Hello everybody:

I've a nwe camera Canon 5D Mark III and I've some problems with these file.

When I edit in Corel Video Studio X6 all videos play in the preview screen bad because It have some short pauses.
The videos do not work in a continuous way.

I bought more RAM and now I've 12gb. Also I work with other HD files, like GoPro Videos, and I dont have problems in the preview

Any idea? Maybe the container of 5D Mark III videos?

Thank you!

Hi

There does seem to be an issue using Canon slr video files, they are using Mov H264 as far as I know.
Video studio does not support this combination, however you should be able to render to other formats,
There are quite a few posts regarding Canon SLR video, then again the camera is a Pro Image camera with video capabilities, not a camcorder.

As for the stuttering playback, you should activate Smart Proxy, making sure Proxy files are created for each clip, this will improve timeline playback.

I think GoPro use Mpeg4 type video and easier for VS to manage/

Hi

Proxy files are created automatically when inserting a HD video to the timeline.
View Settings Smart Proxy Queue

If proxy files have been created they can be seen in Settings - Smart Proxy manager.

For existing files in the timeline, right click and select create Smart Proxy files.
select multiple clips by Shift + Click or Ctrl+A
Then view the Proxy Queue.

Smart Proxy files take a long time to create.
Once created a small icon can be seen on the clip within the timeline.
Playback in project mode should improve
Clip playback will be the same/similar
