I have Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X6 and am having problems rendering clips in slow motion.
I have recorded at 50p in full HD. In Video Studio I have slowed the clips down to 25%, and when I do a preview in the editor, it looks fantastic. However when I render to a MP4 file it looks terrible. You can see every frame.
How do I render and get at least the same quality as I get in the preview window?
Here is the video I am talking about.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pgJ0SsMsgU.
Scroll through to about 30 seconds to see the jumping.

Hi akiwi
and welcome to the forums
What are the properties of the Mpeg4 file.
I do not think you can set 50 fps, so the video will use 25 or maybe 30??
That will impact on the playback quality after rendering.
Try using another video format, maybe Transport Stream at 50fps

Re: Slow motion rendering is Jumpy
Ok, I tried that with Transport Stream at 50p and it makes a HUGE difference!! Much much smoother.
Only problem now is that it is 373 MB instead of 98 with the MP4. And with my 0,33 Mbps upload speed it will take several hours to upload.
Question:
If I film in 50p do I need to render in 50p?
Is there a way to get smooth slow motion (1/4 speed) using mp4 at 25 fps?

Hi
When you change the playback speed to 25% the program adds 3 duplicate frames for each original frame
A 10 second clip has 500 frames, at 25% has 2000 frames. Rendering to 50 fps will use all frames and give relatively smooth video.
Then when you render to 25fps the encoder removes half leaving 1000 frames
It is that juggling act that is causing the judder.
If you recorded using 25 fps would give more scope in your output choice. Mpeg4 at 25fps
The Transport stream was my first thoughts as I know it can use 50fps.
There are other options and Quicktime – Mpeg4 Visual compression will allow for 50 fps
If you are bothered about file size try reducing the frame size to 1280 x 720
Reducing the Data Rate will reduce the file size but may impact on quality, a bit of trial and error required there.
