Video not playing smooth in PREVIEW BAR

Hello

I am a amateur editor and do the basic stuff with the editing like color fixing and cropping/cutting. Since the time, i switched to HD videos the video does not render and playback smoothly in preview mode.

However in other editing programs like Vegas it plays back like butter but i am not into Vegas and i dont like vegas. I use Videostudio only.

Please help anyone. the video plays back like in 1FPS or like 2-3FPS i mean the videos one picture is shown then directly after 2-3 seconds. The audio is howver smooth.

Hello - welcome

I note that you say you have now switched to HD - so the first question is have you enabled smart Proxy.

Secondly please tell us about the videos you are now editing - could you put one of them in the VideoStudio timeline and RIGHT click over it and then choose 'Properties' from the pop-out - can you then copy those properties by means of screen capture or snipping tool and post the resulting image in your next post.

I have downloaded your image and attached to the post.

If you use Alt+ PrtSc it will copy the active window rather than the full desktop.
Save as Jpeg and attach to your post.
The attachment option is to the bottom as you write your post.

Can anyone help me.. I usually need to do voice overs but the video is not playing back nicely and i have to render it open it in VLC and then stack it side by side then also its hard.. Please help

Hi

Make sure Smart Proxy files have been created.
Smart Proxy files are created automatically immediately after inserting a clip to the timeline. However clips already in the timeline may not have proxy files.

Right click your clips and select “Create Smart Proxy Files”

View Settings Smart Proxy Manager—Smart Proxy File Manager for a list of files already created. Do you see your file?

An icon is added to the clip on the timeline indicating Smart Proxy files have been created.

Another reason for the slow playback of HD is that your computer appears a bit under powered for HD smooth playback if the video is AVCHD... though it should render OK if slowly...

Thanks for ur replies.. i have created the files and its still not rendering the video while editing and not playing smoothly..

However i have seen that in another Popular Editing program that its working flawlessly.. I use this Videostudio cause its user friendly than all of the others..

The video is somewhat playing smooth now.. I was not aware of Smart Proxy and i just selected smart proxy started checking video.. But now i saw that it takes some time like 2-3 minutes to create the smart proxy file. So now its working fine..
