Good thought. But the difference in detail between ASP 'highlight recovery' and C1 'HDR highlights' ..... with ASP I get a flat grey area; with C1 I get clouds. Not good ones, but clouds.
If ASP had C1's IQ and highlight handling, I would just use ASP. If C1 had better layer handling and clone brushes, I would just use C1. Life is full of tough choices.
Most users though I suspect would go for the easily achieved IQ.
