I am using the pro x4. My photos are of poor quality on my completed DVD. this has not always been the case. my photos are high resolution taken with a Nikon d5000. there was a recent update and I am not sure if it required some setting changes. Any ideas?

Re: Photo quality poor
Define "poor quality"
If you created a standard DVD then the resolution of the photos will be 720x480 (or 720x576 if PAL). It does not matter what resolution your source photos are.

Re: Photo quality poor
Hi nepsa
Standard Definition DVD has to use Mpeg2 type video files.
You can create these by Share Create Video File-DVD 16:9 the Slideshow option is more suitable for Images as it uses Frame Based rather than being interlaced.
At a data rate of 8000kbps will produce top quality video for 60/70 minutes of footage.
The file will also be created doing Share Create Disc, just prior to burning the Convert Title process creates the Mpeg2. This will use the settings found from the Project Settings cogwheel, lower left.
This is the process I would use.
1 / First set the project properties (Alt+Enter) to :-
NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Frame-based (used when creating a slide show)
(DVD-NTSC), 16:9
Video data rate: 8000 kbps (Constant Data Rate up to 70 minutes of video)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
2 / complete the editing
3 / Share Create Video File – Same as Project Properties, will create a compliant Mpeg2 video file.
4 / play the new video to check quality.
5 / Start a new project, edit the project properties as above in “1” (Not essential but good to do should rendering take place in burner module)
6 / Nothing in the timeline, Share Create Disc (opens the burner module)
7 / Add Media Add video, (icons top left) Add the video file created in 3 above
8 / Create the menu
9 / from the last window I choose to Create a Disc Image, an ISO saved to the hard drive can be played using VLC Media Player.
At least you can check the quality before burning those discs/coasters
10 / Use a Disc Image recorder to burn the Iso to disc.
If you do not have an ISO burner software Brian kindly provided a link here.

Video Studio X5 and X6 and earlier versions of VS supported Disc Image burning, unfortunately not X4.
I have a LG DVD CD disc drive, software provided means of burning ISO Files.
I believe Nero is also capable of burning an ISO
Hope this helps

In the past, some users who had trouble with their slideshows could improve things by switching the image > anti-flicker filter off. It is on by default: Settings > Preferences > Edit. I am not saying this will definitely help you, but it is at least worth trying.
I'm a little surprised, though, that you are having trouble. Just yesterday, for instance, I included a short slideshow in a bigger video project. I had simply scanned in a number of 6 x 8 inch photos (at 300 dpi), saved them as jpegs, and included them in the slideshow. I confess I applied a sharpen filter to them as the original photos were just a tiny bit blurred. But in the final video, they all came out extremely clearly. Oh, and I also inserted them in an overlay track and used both Fit to Screen and Keep Aspect Ratio. But I don't think this would have changed anything in terms of final quality. But again, worth trying?
