Default transition time

Post by geoffschultz »

I am generating a video with lots of still images in it. I want the default transition time for the crossfade to be 0.5 seconds, but I can't find any way to specify anything other than integer values with a 1 second minimum. Is it possible to do this or do I have to modify each transition property?

Hi Geoff,

I also find that a 1 second transition time is too long, my preference is 0.2 seconds and the only way I can find is to manually change the duration to less than 1 second, is in the timeline, whereas with my other NLE's I can set any transitions from 0.1 seconds in preferences. Why Corel only allow a min. of 1 second in preferences does seem very strange.

That's what I was afraid of. I was hoping that there was some other way to do this. Thanks for confirming it for me!

Transition times are in the following format : hh:mm:ss.ff where ff is in frames not fraction of seconds.

Why would you want a transition time of only a few frames?

It should be available in as a default option though, I agree.

Because a quick transition of 1/2 a second looks better than 1 second. Unfortunately the Settings/Preferences/Edit/Transition Effect duration only allows you to select an integer number of seconds of between 1 and 999 seconds. Why anyone would need 999 seconds of transition is beyond me.

Why anybody would need a .5 sec transition is beyond me - I doubt most people would even notice that there was a transition :D

That's the whole idea, very rarely do you ever see professionals use transitions, most TV shows do not use them except in special circumstances, all I need is a very short transition to take the sharpness off as clips change, so the look is smooth, fast and snappy, transitions that are too long take the edge off and that's not what's wanted.
