Program crashes when I click on Capture tab

Post by DennisS »

When I click on the capture tab in video studio, I get the following error message: :(
vstudio.exe - Application Error

The instruction at "0x0576dce7" referenced memory at "0x0c6280000". The memory could not be "written".
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program.

The program screen indicates that it recognizes my capture device (Adaptec USB) along with the other information on the capture tab. The capture button and the options button are available. However, if I click on cancel to debug the program, as soon as I click on anything on the screen the program crashes. I have the 8.01 patch installed, and I have uninstalled version 7 (same behavior with it and version 8.01 installed). I've also uninstalled version 8 and reinstalled it. Does anyone know how to fix this problem.

Dennis,
Please post your complete list of video capture properties as well as the model of your capture device. Make sure that your USB connection is USB2 on both computer and device.

I'm not sure what you mean by video capture properties. The device is the Adaptec VideOh! DVD AVC 2210. Both the device and the computer are using USB 2.0

Dennis,
Check for the latest driver at http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/suppor ... rv_v13.exe

If your driver is already up to date, did the capture device come with any capture software? If so, use that to capture and then edit in Video Studio.

BTW, capture properties are what you will have to be setting if you want good results with your captured video. Read the Top Post and follow link to Recommended Procedure for examples, etc.

If you are on Windows XP, you can also try downloading Windows Movie Maker (a free download from Microsoft) to see if that can capture successfully.

Yeah it is crashing on me also. This is very annoying being that I just purchases/upgraded to VS10Plus...not a good first impression..hehe

I was running VS9SE that came with the DSD DVDExpress DX2 USB. I purchased a DVD Cam and VS9SE would not handle the Dolby Digital 2 sound so I upgraded to 10. Now the Dolby plays but now I have the crashing! lol

VS9 captures fine but with VS10 I get a Application Error when I click the "Capture Video" button.

Any suggestions? I patched SP1 also.

I guess that is because the original VS 9 SE version was tweaked to capture with your device. With any analog capture device it is recommended to use the capture software supplied with it. You can try an upgraded software but, if it doesn't work, revert back to the original for capture. You can use the other software for further processing though, once the video is on your PC.
