Hi

Ok I managed to finally download the file, I was surprised at the size being 200Mb yet only 12 seconds. I was surprised at that?
The video uses a CineForm codec, I am unable to play on my pc nor open in Video Studio.

I downloaded and installed a codec from……
http://cineform.com/gopro-cineform-decoder

GoProCineForm Codec v8.1.2

Quick Time Player now plays the video ok

Inserting the clip to the Video Studio timeline I get this error/warning.
CineForm.jpg (11.09 KiB) Viewed 3622 times
I can play the clip using Video Studio but cannot render due to the Licensed issue.
Neither can I make my own template.
Maybe I need to purchase a CineForm program to get over the licensing issue, I know that Ken uses Go Pro and will have installed some software.
The Codec I installed will allow for playback (decoding) but not rendering (encoding)

I was however able to convert the video using AVS 8 Video Converter to Mpg4 1920 x 1080, to a more respectable size of 80 Mb ish and Mpeg2 at 27Mb.

At 200Mb for 12 seconds I think I would have found another option.

Ah, those cheeky people at Cineform. Right, I have just cancelled my order of Adobe Premiere Elements for now, and have downloaded the trial AVS converter. I have tried several file variations, but have had mixed results with the playback quality. Basically I would like to convert to a file format that is as high a quality as possible, and, can be edited ok in VS. Can you suggest which one?

Hi

AVS 8
I have tried a few HD types, M2TS seemed to work ok.
There is one option for M2TS Full HD 1080P (H,264, 2400 kbps, 24fps)
No choice to customise this profile.

There is a little strobing on the wooden panelling and the wicker furniture, then I see that on the original. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Sorry short of time, and may be away for two days?

Thanks for trying. Yeah I tried that setting, but I got 2 big shudders in the middle. I'll experiment just a little more over the weekend, but if I don't get any solutions in the next few days, i'll buy Adobe.

On another note, I noticed with the Sony Vegas, the HDV 1080 I did a test render in, was actually 1080x1440, not 1920.
All HDV is 1440 x 1080. That's part of the international standard for it. It is what is called "anamorphic" but gives the same end quality as 1920 x 1080 would.

I don't like your chances of getting a refund. Corel would probably say -- quite apart from the time question -- that 99% of the program works as advertised... even if the 1% that doesn't is the 1% you want to use!

Hi

Viewing the properties of the original avi video the data rate seems to be 133Mbps, that’s using Media Info and AVS 8 Converter.
A full quality Bluray would use 25Mbps or something in that area so your video file is like massive. Way outside the industries standards for HD video.

It would have been good if I were able to use Video Studio to do the job, but the Licensing issue still shows when I try, I am able to play but not render.

I have uploaded the sample converted using AVS, seems to play ok????

http://www.upfordown.com/pupload/view/85651

That doesn't really help if Video Studio cannot do the same?

I decided before I write off VS, I would use the paid for one off service. It's £19, but I used the American site, and managed to get it for $16 (or about £10) haha. Well, it is X5 Ultimate which I bought from the American site, so technically done nothing wrong.

The first couple of emails had my heart sinking

"go to options and uncheck smart render" was one. That's the equivalent of telling someone - "turn it off and back on"

They eventually asked me to upload a video clip, so uploaded both the original MOV file and the converted AVI. I have just been informed that they have used the files and have replicated the problem I am getting. So it's now been escalated.

Finger's crossed
