DVD menu font movement

Post by Phil »

Hi

Has anyone ever noticed that after creating a DVD menu via Videostudio (x6 installed), that when the Main Menu appears on your TV (or preview box in the DVD maker) that the wording you have created has a slight judder as it settles into its place? The same happens when you select to play or leave that menu page, that it always has a slight judder moving off again.

I tried turning off motion menu, but the font seems to always judder slightly out of position on arrival or exit.

Any fixes for this?

Hi Phil

No not really noticed any problems with the menus, then again I don’t always use motion menu’s.
I assume you are talking about the main Title menu, or have you added a Note Menu?

There are many gallery templates and motion options for the menu, can you say which you are referring to and say which Moving Path you have selected.

From the final page if you create a Disc Image ISO file you can play using VLC Player, unless you want to create those coasters.
It will play the menu as well as movie so you should be able to see the problem on the PC

What are the properties of the video’s you are trying to burn, I assume Pal at 25fps.

Its simply the Title page in the DVD maker. I used a photo for my background and typed the name of the DVD. When played back, everything fades in to commence, then when any audio starts there's a little settling in of the words to their position. When navigating away to another menu, the wording shifts slightly again.

It appears to be the symptoms of opening and closing each menu page.

Hi Phil

I have tried a few times to create a Disc Image using various settings.
The title text animates due to the Motion menu effect, but no stuttering or slight shifts.
The text starts and stops without problem.

Ok I think I have found one issue, when the motion menu reaches the limit (default to 20 sec) the menu immediately reverts to the start irrespective of where the motion is.
That may cause a jump in the text.
also
The Music lasts for about 18 seconds, the Motion Menu runs for 20 seconds. Matching these durations may help in smoothing the Motion effect.

As I mentioned earlier I don’t always use motion menus, I deselect to allow the background sounds to play fully.
