field order problem
I have a video that was created by someone else, filmed in mini DV format, rendered to DVD. I was given it on a DVD-R, It wouldn't play on my home DVD player, it only plays +R. so I played it on someone elses player. The video looked like it had a field order problem (flickering video). I also wanted to make a small adjustment, so I imported it into VS9. I checked the properties, and it said upper field first, I know that miniDV is Lower field first, so I was wondering if I can re-render the file to Lower field, in order to correct the problem or if I am stuck with the flickering video, because the original video doesn't exist and the DVD is the only thing left. If re-rendering will not fix it, is there anything that will?

I once rendered a video with the field order the wrong way round and had deleted the original before I realised.
I rendered the new (wrong field order) video again, this time the correct way round and it came out perfect.
My advice would be to extract a small clip from your video and render it the other way round (obviously with a new file name - don't lose the original!) and see if it comes out OK. If it does you can do the whole video.
