...And using Dolby audio instead of PCM will also give you around 10 minutes more worth of space which you can devote to video...

Thanks for the reply's. It was stated that a dvd will only hold about 60mins of video yet on the dvd it says 16x 4.7GB 120min Why the discrepancy? If these is only room for 60 mins of video how are DVD's made where they are a lot longer than that other than BluRay? Thanks. By the way the one that I burned that had a bit of yellow I could not see any difference from what was on the vhs tape. I must be used to low grade videos.

There is no discrepancy. The 16x refers to the reading and/or writing speed which has nothing to do with video.

The 120 minutes is marketing hype and is the maximum video you can put on a DVD but at lowest quality. The 60 minutes is the video at highest quality.

DVDs with longer videos are either double layer (DL) DVDs which hold almost twice as much as standard videos. For commercial DVDs the rendering programs used are quite a bit more expensive then low cost programs like VS etc. Those programs that Hollywood uses costs thousands of dollars.

If you are maybe up to 20 minutes ofver the limit you may not notice much quality loss.

Did anyone find a solution to this

Videostudio x5 Pro

WIndows 8.1

Two PC's - one I get the Unspecified error right as soon as click Burn to disc. Other PC - nearly identical setup with windows 8.1 burning as we speak. Both burning AVCHD 8.5 gb discs - I have done the disc burning under windows 8.0 on the same rig that's giving the issue now.

Tried full uninstall and reinstall
Even tried videostudio x6 trial - same issue.

Seems either something is left behind that's causing the issue when uninstalling. I guess I could try and clean install windows 8.1 but that effort does not seem worth it.
