VS X6 Screen Capture tool will not launch

Post by JWheels »

Hello,

I installed VS X6 earlier today and when I try to run the screen capture feature the primary application window minimizes for a moment and then restores itself without ever displaying the screen capture window. If I try to run the screen capture tool straight from the desktop icon the primary application window will open, and then minimize, and then restore itself. At no point will the screen capture window appear, however. I do not receive any error messages. I have tried running as administrator and changing the comparability settings. I also re installed VS X6, but didn't have any luck fixing the problem.

I am completely stumped.

Thanks,

James

When you select the screen capture icon there is no "screen capture window" as such - but a small dialogue box should appear as in my image below - is it possible it is blending in to your background - it should always appear on top of everything else - but is it possible you have another programme running which is set to always on top and hides the control - does an additional icon appear in your taskbar.

Hi

Just to add, you can see from Brians image that Fullscreen is selected, the bounding box should be visible as a blue line around the monitor, drag the trim handles to resize the box or select an open window from the drop-down panel. Now you should see the outside/unselected area as greyed a little.

Thank you for the reply.

That is the box that doesn't seem to launch. I have successfully run screen capture on the Windows 7 drive on this same machine, as well as on my Windows 8 laptop.

I did find an error in Window's event log which seems to be related to the video driver ("module name: ntdll.dll") so I will play around with the nvidia drivers and see where that takes me.

Here is the text from the error:

I swept all the video drivers and then re installed them from safe mode and I still get the error. Is there a way to tell the screen capture tool not to default to full screen? I wonder if somehow the three monitors are causing the problem.

I do not know of any way to change the capture frame size unless you can open the programme.

Have the same issue and I also use 3 monitors.

3 monitors are the issue.

Have the same and can "fix" by removing the 3rd monitor(unplug USB graphic card).
