Hi,
I recently started having this problem with the material palette changing colors back to what I had previously used. I am using windows 8 operating system 64 bit, and PSPX5. I will be working on something and if I change tools then my colors will change.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Material Palette
It's an intermittent glitch/bug that goes back at least to PSP8. I've had it happen in PSP8 and X2. I haven't used X4 enough to know if it also happens in that version. It happens the most when using the text tool for me. It will revert to the last colors used with that tool despite having "All tools" checked. Here's a work-around that someone on the PSPUG forum posted:
1. Make sure that the text tool is active
2. Hover your cursor over the foreground swatch and press the Ctrl key. This will turn the cursor into a temporary eyedropper tool. Choose a foreground color from your image. To set the background color swatch, do the same thing but start with your cursor over the background swatch.

Re: Material Palette
If I don't want to choose a color from my image, I want to type in the color that I want, how would I do that?
I really appreciate the help you are giving me.

Hi Ken,
Such a simple fix. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I didn't even realized it had come unchecked.

Just click on either the Foreground or Background color swatch on the Materials Palette to bring up the Materials Property Dialog Box.
You can now:
- *select from a color swatch
*Use the RGB and HSL sliders to select a color
*Type in the HTML value for the color you want
