can't draw curved lines in Corel PSP X5

Via the Help Menu--following instructions to the letter--I cannot produce Curved Lines (read: Arcs). I'm wondering if the capability to do this in the PSP X5 program is glitchy--perhaps requires a fix? If no, I'd greatly appreciate anyone using this program walking me through the process to do this. Normally, I formulate short-cuts or 'tricks'--nothing has worked here for my purposes however. Please advise! TY

What, exactly, are the steps you're doing?

P.S. Make sure you have the "Create on Vector" option selected in the Options Bar for the Pen tool.
