MP4 - Any "Codec-Complete" Player Out There?

Post by oka »

I use RealPlayer to capture (strem) two HD videos I would like to watch later, since my internet would not smoothly play a HD (MP4) video at real time, so I capture the streaming video to watch without interruption. I have always used the RealPlayer to capture and KMPlayer to play any MP4 file. FLV plays alright. I tried GOM, VLC Player, DicX Plus Player, and a few reputable ones, still all would not play because of missing MP4 codec. I have always played MP4 file with KMPlayer. All the information I found would not work.

Since none of the 'good' players would play MP4, what would be the best bet. I would pay for a "good" player if I find one.

Hi

Real Player downloads use a real player converter, you choose the conversion format, I would guess it’s that format that is giving the problem rather than the player.
How does Real Player perform when playing the clip?

I have always used Real Player but having recently upgraded my OP and have not as yet installed so cannot test the download /convert process.

Using Video Studio right click one of the clips and choose properties, what are they.?

There are also different 'flavours' of video which use the mp4 extension. My Samsung Galaxy III smartphone and GoPro Hero 3 both produce (very good) high def video which use that extension, and none of my players have difficulty with it. I also have mp4's from other users which also play in a variety of players. The one I tend to use most, however, these days is the VLC player.

I have been using RealPlayer for a long time now and recently, use it to capture HD (720p & 1080p) and all went well, until about a month ago. I will capture, and sometimes it will play with a media player sometimes won’t play. Some player would play it without audio. I have tried installing extra codec and many users are experiencing the same issue.

I compared the video properties with an older on I was successful with and both are the same.

With Try&Decide, I was able to test out about nine utilities and found three that work good. The third one is YouTube Downloader HD which can only get one session at a time. The first two I prefer are, HD YouTube Downloader Free and Free Studio 2013. The last two would get multiple URLs simultaneously. Oh, they are all FREE!

I did a test of a short-time YouTube video with all four and only RealPlayer’s would play with a player without audio while the other three played both the video and audio. For now I’ll stick with the two that works until RealPlayer fixes the codec issuer. RealPlayer is the most convenient since all you do is click on the “Download This Video” button and you are on your way but will use the functional ones until then. The test MP4 video I captured with RealPlayer would not play in KMPlayer, VLC Player, GOM, DivX Plus Player, and two others, but all the player played if captured with the two I mentioned above I will be using. So, the culprit is RealPlayer (for now). I am fine now I have two good options.

Thanks all though!
