Elgato footage(MP4) in CVSPX6 :/

Post by BowleyC73 »

Hi,
I'm a new user and need some help please.
I use Corel VideoStudio Pro X6 and an Elgato GameCapture HD which records videos in an mp4 format. When I try to use my mp4 footage from my elgato it tells me "the file contains no video data." and will not let me insert it. How can I use my mp4 footage in the software?
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

There must be something a little different about your mp4. Can you download a small freeware program called GSpot and navigate in it to one of your clips. Then tell us all that it says about the video, including frame size and the codec used. Or better still, take a screen shot of the GSPot window and attach it here. Thanks.

have a look at this topic - it is the same as your problem but in X5 - the solution should also work in X6 - read it here :-

Hi

Do you have QuickTime Player installed on the PC.

Screen shot, I assume you have created a Jpeg image.
The maximum size for Attachments is 256Kb

Use the “Attachments” option (bottom of post) do not use the IMG tags.

you open Windows Explorer (or my computer) and browse to the file - if it says something like "abcdefg.mp4" you use the rename option to change it to "abcdefg.mov" - you will receive a warning message about changing extensions but just cancel that.

If you do not see the .mp4 bit on the end then click on "Organise" in the top right corner of your file browser - then click on "Folder and search options" - then on the "view" tab at the top of the dialogue window - then untick the box against "Hide extensions for known file types" - then click OK - go back to your file and check and try again.

In Windows Explor/Computer, right click on the file and choose 'Rename". Just rename the 'mp4' part to 'mov'. Make sure, though, that you have Quicktime installed on your computer.
