Hey, I'm a total beginner using Corel VideoStudio Pro x6, learning stuff off Youtube.
I'm learning split screening at the moment and have 4 overlay tracks on my timeline, each at a corner, but I can't seem to view them all at once, plus when I hit "Play," I hear the music I added, but the clips aren't showing, which is the biggest confusion to me. I'm hoping this is a newbie error and think it can't hurt to ask.
Any help and attempted help is appreciated.
Here is a picture:

Also, how can I get rid of that blue "Pause Duration" bar while at it? Seems kind of random, and I'm not sure why I'd want it there.
Thanks for any time and effort you put in for this/me, in advance.

Can you confirm that you have applied the PnP (Picture in Picture) filter?
As for playback, are you in Clip mode or Project Mode? (That directly under the preview screen...) Project mode should play all four tracks... Clip mode will only play the clip which is highlighted/selected.

I don't know if I am.
What does the Picture in Picture filter do and how can I activate it?
Also, how do I enter project mode? I'm not sure how to check what mode I'm in, but believe that I'm currently in the default settings upon downloading the PC version of VS X6.

I'm in project mode, and the screen is still black when I play in project mode; however, I don't know how to apply the Picture in Picture filter, nor do I know what it is.
Would you be able to explain, please?

Re: Nothing is Playing in Split Screen (Picture URL included
I'm playing in project mode, and just found out that this is happening because the system is having trouble reading my files (I took just over 300 screen records with Movavi Screen Capture Studio...).
I opened 4 of these files (AVI files) in Movies Maker (because that's what I'm used to) and re-saved them as MP4 files, and from there had no trouble split screening.
My problem now is that it would take me probably at least a dozen hours to convert all of my AVI files to MP4 files and my computer isn't all that fast. Do you (or anyone else) have a recommendation on how to re-format around 300 files at once, or how to get VideoStudio Pro X6 to recognize my files?
I bought VideoStudio Pro X6 based on the assumption that it would have no trouble reading .AVI files. Was this wrong?

Hi
Unfortunately AVI is just the container, there are some 800 different types of AVI.
Many are non-standard, playing then may be ok, (Decoder) but editing (Encoding ) can cause problems.
There is a batch convert option (under File) that will convert all, but if Video Studio does not play them then I doubt if batch convert will help, you can of course try.
Does Movie Maker do batch Convert?
Can you provide the properties of the original video clips, right click a clip and select properties.
Create an image and attach to your post, Attachment options at bottom of post, 256Kb file size limit.
Some members use Super a free converter, seems to work well, but difficult to download, that is without downloading all the other junk.
Update
I did a google for Movavi Screen Capture Studio
http://movaviscreencapturestudio.en.softonic.com/
The web site shows a free, I think free converter as well as video editing software.
Have you tried their converter?

Re: Nothing is Playing in Split Screen (Picture URL included
Perhaps you would do well to look at the many tutorials available for VideoStudio. Picture in picture comes in the effects FX under P. You need to drag that down on to your overlay, one for each overlay, and then position the frame where you want it.
On the bottom of the picture screen below the blue line is Project and Clip. Click on the one you want.
Why are you worried about the blue line? It shows the time length of the overlay compared to the main track.
I suggest you start with http://www.gripps.net/tutorials.html and go through the X4 and X5 lists.
There are other good tutorials from Corel and members of this forum.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Re: Nothing is Playing in Split Screen (Picture URL included
sorry but I need to be a little pedantic - what you are wanting to do is NOT split screen - it is "picture-in-picture" - split screen is slightly different. I only mention it because if you go looking for tutorials for split screen you will be confused by the results you get - try looking for "picture-in-picture" tutorials.
some examples of the results you can achieve with picture-in-picture :--

and just one technique for doing split screen :-

but of course you must be able to see your videos in VideoStudio first.
