Unable to Play file

I have installed VideoStudio Pro v6 on Windows Pro 64 bi. I tried insert the sound files onto an empty track/video and it just won't play the click ...the audio file just does'not play.
I can play the sample videos but if I add a sound track that came with the software I get this error. What do i need to do to fix it?

The error message is:
Unable to play the file
[16804:2:1]

Welcome to the forums!

You say "I tried insert the sound files onto an empty track/video". This implies to me that you are not dragging the sound files to an audio track. These are the tracks at the very bottom of the VS screen. One has a microphone icon to its left, and the other two musical notes.

It would also help if you told us the format of the files you are inserting - VideoStudio does not play every format of sound file.

Brian -- I read this as indicating he was talking about the sample audio files which come with X6. That's why I didn't ask what the format was...

I have a VideoStudio Pro X6 for 4 months w/o any problem......I have finish a long project that was working ok.....; but now stop when the sound come and show the following msg : "Error 16804:2:1 Can't Play file".....I try other projects which they work but can't hear any sound.....also when I try the original software audio sample it show's the same error. I tried everything...re starting software and the computer couple times w/o any luck.....
PLS HELP I need to turn my project homework on Wed Sep 4.

Sounds as though something has changed on your computer - have you recently installed any new programmes or add-ons - have you recently had any Windows updates install ?

there is quite a bit of information on the Microsoft website about losing sound after an update - check for yourself here :-

Brian thanks for you help; unfortunate no updates has being done recently in my win8 in last 15 days......what else could be the problem....some video sound work but some other don't in the Video Studio X6....

Pls I need help with my Corel Video Studio Pro X6 I still have the same issue that any sound file plays but not sound......it did work for 5 months w/o any problem....suddenly the problem show up.

Something changed in your system if it worked for several months and all of a sudden does not. Most likely an update whether manual or automatic.

I contact microsoft and they found any problem with the updates....that could affect the CVS programs nor the sound files.
And no updates either were closed to the date when the problem occur.

I tried all programs and I hear the sounds files except w/ VideoStudio.... all the projects are working; the sound files are there; but not sound.......

CVS shows the following Message : "Unable to play file - [16804:2:1]"

Do the sound files supplied with VideoStudio work - but not your own sound files or is it all sound files do not work

Can you hear the video sound in VS - or is it no sound at all

how are you playing the sound files in Videostudio - are you using only the thumbnails in the library - have you tried right clicking on the timeline and choosing "insert audio" then browsing to the actual audio file.
