Re: Video to images
Yes - to get an image from a video - put your video in the timeline - in "Preferences" under the capture tab choose whether you want jpg or bmp - use the timeline cursor to get the image you want in the preview window - click on the video so that it has yellow lines all round it - now click on the small "Edit" near top left corner and from the drop down choose - "Take a snapshot". This will place an image file of the displayed video clip in your currently specified working folder.
To get a video from images - place the images in the timeline now go to "Share >> Create Video file" and choose what sort of video you want and then follow the prompts to create a video from your image.

Re: Video to images
Re turning images into video, in addition to what Brian has said, if you have a series of time lapse still photos, you put them sequentially in the timeline and then proceed as Brian has outlined. And of course, if you want a video slideshow, then you put all your photos in the timeline in the order you want them, add transitions (if wanted), background music etc, then proceed as Brian has outlined.

Re: Video to images
Thank you for your reply, but I was talking about a video sequence (a lot of frames) and not just one. I know that others video editors can do it, but I don't know if Corel VS is able to do so. Also I remember that "the old" Ulead MediaStudio Pro was able to do so.

Re: Video to images
Exactly what is it you want to do? You mean you want to capture every frame in a video as an image?
I don't know of any video editors that can capture frames in a sequence but then I have never looked into that feature since I have never needed that.
A search on the net shows several programs that do this, some of them free.

Re: Video to images
I don't know about X5, but with X6 Ultimate, you can create image sequences going through Boris Graffiti. After Boris Graffiti opens up, click the "Advanced" tab. Next select File > Export > Movie. You can select Targa Sequence. There is also a Quicktime Image Sequence (animation) option, but that buts the images in a MOV file, but you don't need to go through Boris for that. You can do the same thing with Share > Create Video File > Custom > MOV/QT.
Interestingly, I had to start VideoStudio with "open as administrator" in order for Boris Graffiti to work properly when exporting to a sequence.

Re: Video to images
Are you saying Airone that you want to put a video clip in the timeline and produce an image for every single video frame - you do realise that for a one minute video that would give you 1500 images don't you - what do you intend doing with all those.

Re: Video to images
Hi Airone
Yes you can do that with Video Studio it is called “Ulead Image Sequence”, yep I know that’s an old name but Corel do seem to be still using Ulead file names?????
Go to Share Create Video File – Custom
Change the “Save as Type” to Ulead Image Sequence UIS
Now select Options and set your preferred sizes.
You may have to change the project frame size, user define for HD sizes, it’s a while since I used this option so would have to run a few tests to find optimum settings.
You may be best to use Jpegs given the amount you will create.

15 years of using VideoStudio and there is still something new to learn - I did not know we even had that function.

Re: Video to images
Hi Brian
I used it to rip, for want of a better description, the sample video files, these are in NTSC.
Typically V10 is the scrolling film, when I use that in my projects it is converted to Pal, resulting in lost frames, this can be seen as a blip when played, a stutter as it scrolls.
I ripped the NTSC to its individual images, then created a Pal version.
It was 2 seconds longer but no blips as it used all frames.
That’s what the blips amount to 2 seconds, it’s a lot, one frame in five. 20%
If all that makes sense.
My big moan being Corel providing Ntsc samples for Video Studio when installed to Pal, instant templates included.

Re: Video to images
Hello all,
I remember that with Ulead MediaStudio was possible to transform video clips to pictures, but I never thought that Corel retained the old name Ulead for this feature.
I agree, Brian, there is still something new to learn.
Some 8mm film restoration software takes as input a sequence of images, so I needed to turn the films taken by camcorder into pictures. After they have been processed, the images are converted back into video format (but this isn't a problem for VS).
Thanks for solving my problem.
Raoul

Re: Video to images
I tried the Ulead Image Sequence, but when I saw the .uis file added to the Library, I assumed all the images where contained in the .uis file. I now see that the .uis file just references the 120 individual files saved as .tif, in my case.

Re: Video to images
Hello all,
I just tried "Ulead Image Sequence UIS" and no problem for me. In the destination folder I find the file .UIS, but also all .Bmp pictures which had to be there.
For me no problem.
Thank you again.
