X6 crashes opening ts files

Post by greatmgm »

hello,

i'm using videostudio x6 to cut and recode ts-files from am Kathrein UFS 923 sat recorder. But i have infrequent crashes during "opening video file". Some ts file makes the opening dialog hangs up (this occurs at the mouse single click on the ts file and the double click too :(
Another software: DVD HD Studio 3 from Hanilein-Software manage this ts files correct ....

Exist a Corel-log-file to see the problem ? or any idea of this ?

thanx

Hello - welcome.

Are your video files just 'ts' files or are there any other letters or numbers with that, here is a complete list of supported formats for X6 - you can see that M2TS files are supported but there is no mention of just 'TS' - can you confirm please.

You may need to use another programme to convert the ts file to a VS supported format before you can edit it.

Supported input formats*

Video: AVI, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, AVCHD™, MPEG-4, H.264, BDMV, DV, HDV, DivX, QuickTime, RealVideo, Windows Media Format, MOD (JVC MOD File Format), M2TS, M2T, TOD, 3GPP, 3GPP2
Audio: Dolby Digital Stereo, Dolby Digital 5.1, MP3, MPA, WAV, QuickTime, Windows Media Audio, Ogg Vorbis
Images: BMP, CLP, CUR, EPS, FAX, FPX, GIF, ICO, IFF, IMG, J2K, JP2, JPC, JPG, PCD, PCT, PCX, PIC, PNG, PSD, PSPImage, PXR, RAS, RAW, SCT, SHG, TGA, TIF, UFO, UFP, WMF
Disc: DVD, Video CD (VCD), Super Video CD (SVCD)

thank your for your quick answer
.
The files from the recorder are only named like "filename.ts". A standard (non hd) movie-file has a size of app. 4Gb. Some of this are accepted by x6 but some crashing the fileopendialog.
Software "DVR-Studio HD 3.02" means: "MPEG-2 TS Video", 720*576i, 16:9, cut-rate: 0,4s data-rate 4.5Mbit/s, MPEG Stereo 192kbits/s, Dolby Digital 5.1 384kbit/s, teletext 149

actually procedure: loading and converting with dvr-studio to mpg2, then loading in x6, cutting and encode to mpg4 for my media server ... now im looking forward to a free converter from Kathrein-ts to a x6-compatble ts ...
dvr-studio is a trial and becomes a full license with 89euro :((

Hi

Try re-naming the files from TS to use the extension MTS, you could also try MPG as the file extension.
Then import to Video Studio.
Maybe best to create a copy of the files first.

I suspect that .mpg might be the best -- or at least first -- bet. The .mts extension is associated with AVCHD/hig def mpeg-4, whereas straight out .ts files can be standard def mpeg-2 (though can also be high def). So calling them .mts could create conflicts.

There are, however, conversion programs that will convert transport stream to program stream. A Google search will reveal quite a variety.

But I certainly agree with Trevor that you should make a copy of your files before you do anything to them!!
