Hey guys,

I didn't try any other transitions--too scared it would not work. I'll live with it the way it is. Thanks for all of your help. Something quirky will probably happen with me when we start using the new camera. Especially since I'm still learning how to use VSX5. I've only been using since around October, I'm a novice, and there is still much I do not know!!!! :D

Thanks again for all of your help!!!

Sheila

Hi Sheila,
Their dvd burner appears to be older equipment, it has screen to watch the footage as it is being downloaded. It also has a slot for a VCR tape, which makes me think it is older equipment. It has a remote control. The tape is downloaded in real time. At the end of the first tape, the pause button on the remote control is pushed and the second tape is put in the camera. The pause button on the remote control is pushed again, along with the play button on the camera. I don't know how it works, but it does. Perhaps the dvd is not created until all the footage is downloaded somewhere in this burner, prior to the dvd being burned.
The dvd burner they use sounds like it is just a regular DVD/VHS tape player/recorder. It's especially useful for transfering VHS tapes to DVD. It works with NTSC tv signals or tapes that are Standard Definition (480i); it was made before HD TV and Blu-ray DVDs became common. So, it was specifically designed to record standard definiton 480i video, like that produced by your camcorder.

I bought mine in 2006.

I can confirm that it CAN pause and resume recording to DVD with no problems at all. I have a TV converter box that takes over-the-air HD TV signals and converts them to Standard Definition (480i) signals, which allows older non-HD TVs to watch the channels. I can also connect the output signal into my my DVD player/recorder to record shows to regular (non Blu-ray) DVDs in real-time. I can pause the burning during commercials and resume when the show starts again. I have never had any problem watching the recorded shows on any DVD player or my computer. And, of course, I can watch the show as it's being recorded.

Hi Tommy,

Thank you for that confirmation!!! I didn't know how it worked, I just knew that it did work that way, and I watched it happen. But since the equipment is not mine, I didn't know what other explanation to give.

VSX4 Unspecified Error 5.0.0

Post by JohnRR »

I'm using VSX4 and am receiving the Unspecified Error 5.0.0 when I try to burn a disc. My software used to work, but recently has not. I've tried many of the methods suggested on this forum: updated Direct X from Microsoft; saved this file to my C:Programs - afCvtTitleMenuRenderUnit.dll

I've reinstalled the software as well. I'm not sure how to update my video drivers (will that have an impact on my ability to burn a DVD all of a sudden?).

I've saved the filed as an MPEG-2 and burned a DVD using some free burner trial software (wasn't the best quality, but it worked). So, is it the software or my computer?

I got all the way to 74% Prepare Output Content and 99% Video/Audio Multiplexing before the error pops up. I can't keep wasting time and DVDs with this so-called video software.

Any advice?
thank you,
John

Hi John

If you opt to create a Disc Image rather than burning a disc the process will create an Iso, an image of the disc. No more coasters.
This will test out the conversion processes.
You can play the Iso using VLC player to check quality, that’s if the process completes ok.
Then use Tools “Burn from disc image” to burn the disc. (X5 and X6) otherwise I think Nero burns iso’s to disc.
If you have software associated with your CD DVD burner that too may burn Iso's

I notice your pc only has 512 or ram, this is very small and under Corels recommended size for running the program of 2 Gb
So maybe a computer issue rather that the program itself.

Press F1 for help and search for System requirements

You said “So, is it the software or my computer?” I think it may be your computer otherwise everyone would have the same problem.

Trevor,

Thank you so much for your quick reply to my issue. I saved my file as an image and viewed it in VLC. I then downloaded a free/trial version of a DVD burning software (from IMGBURN.COM). Going forward I may just buy just buy Nero actually. Anyway, it worked! I was able to load my image file into the burning software and burn a proper DVD (including all of my customer menus, etc from VSX4).

This is a very acceptible workaround, based on the age of my PC. I'll be picking up some memory as well (good advice) - get my desktop up to 2G from 512MG. 2G is the max for my model; maybe this will solve my DVD burning issue as well - or at least allow my system to run a bit quicker.

Thanks again!
cheers,
John
