ProX5 - burning DVD in USA to PAL for viewing in China

Post by cdoughertycd »

Hi: I need to burn a project to a DVD so that it can be watched in China. I am in the USA. I read on the internet about DVD regions, China being 6.

Can I burn the project to PAL and have it be played ok in China, if anyone knows?

If so, does that mean I cannot play the PAL burn to preview it on my DVD player (in California)?

Thanks so much, sorry if this subject was already discussed somewhere.

PAL has nothing to do with region codes. For example most of Europe is PAL and it is not region code 6.

Anyway as far as I know most burning programs burn to region code 0 which means the DVD is "region free" and can be played on any DVD player. So you should burn to the DVD format for whatever type of DVD player you will be using.

Moreover, most PAL stand-alone DVD players can play NTSC DVDs without trouble -- particularly the cheap and cheerful ones made in China! Unfortunately, not all that many NTSC players can play PAL DVDs. So you could burn both a PAL and an NTSC version and send both. One is sure to play... or both of them!!
