I have successfully created 2 DVD's.
I am now working on 3rd.
I have a project loaded.
I have video clips, text, sound, etc, the way I want.
At top of screen I click on Share, then middle of screen I
click on Create Disc, then DVD.
It starts a loading progress indicator bar.
After a bit, 45 seconds to 1 minute, program crashes.
Gives me an error :
The program has encountered an unspecified error and has
stopped functioning. Please contact Corel Technical Support and
send the dump file for analysis.
Dump file located :
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\
vstudio_15.2.0.10_20130517_015510.dmp
I find the dump file, file size = 0 bytes.
Calling, emailing Corel support is a giant no-go.
Can't find an email address.
Tried calling tech support : 877-582-6735
Tech support advice, you are out of warranty, can't help you
unless you pay us.
I said I have already paid way too much, not paying a dime
more.
Tech support best advice... reinstall.
I tried loading previous projects files.
001_01.VSP
001_02.VSP
They each loaded fine.
I go to Share, Create Disc, DVD. No problem. Each file loaded
fine. I could get into creating DVD menu, etc, worked fine.
A note here about files;
001_01.VSP
001_02.VSP
I created them before installing Corel sp2.
I believe 002_01.VSP, I began creating it prior to sp2.
SP2 came out, I installed it, then continued working on
002_01.VSP.
What devices are involved and their mode of connection?
All the video files are from my digital camcorder, .mpg files
copied from camcorder to hard drive. I work with .mpg files
from the hard drive.
There really aren't any video, audio "devices" connected
to my pc.
Details of the source files.

Total samples : 5,597,598 samples

The video clips should all be similar since I shot them from
same camcorder.
Other items in footage, .tif photos, .mp3 audio scattered
along time line on the music track.
Tif photos, scanned in using HP multi-function scanner, printer.
How did they get onto your hard drive (download, firewire,

Question 10. What are you trying to make?
A Standard DVD. 4.7 Gig.
As I read thru forum, I see something about "Browser Protect".
I open my task manager, I do not see this .exe file running.
I do not see Browser Manager either.
I also looked in Add-Remove programs, did not see either
file.
QuickTime. I do not see that in Add-Remove programs.
Things I've tried to get this 3rd file, 002_01.VSP, to work.
1 :
Often times when Corel crashes, you can bring it back by
finding the 15.0 directory and deleting it. Corel VSPX5 will
rebuild this directory next time you run VSPX5.
I tried this, no-go.
2 :
Blew away VSPX5, re-installed. Installed sp2.
Loaded project 002_01.VSP.
I go to Share, Create Disc, DVD. Crashed, same unspecified
error, contact Tech support.
I loaded, tried previous files, they worked fine.
001_01.VSP
001_02.VSP
3 :
Just to see what would happen I tried...
Loaded project 002_01.VSP.
I go to Share, Create Video File, DVD, DVD Video 16:9.
It worked. It created .mpg file.
I played file using a different piece of s/w, VLC Media Player.
Worked fine.
Oh, by the way, has VLC completed their "movie making" s/w?
So, what do I do about 002_01.VSP?
It almost appears that the file is corrupt, but it did make
the .mpg file.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Reading thru posts...
Found this and tried it.
Re: Video studio x4 unspecified error when trying to creat d

That will work as noted in my previous reply. I can burn the
video by not going to create disc in the share module
snip... end of post.
So, this is what I did.
I ran Corel VideoStudio pro x5 Ultimate, sp2. 15.2.0.10.
I had nothing on the time line, no project loaded.
I go to Share, Create Disc, DVD.
In the Media Clip Bar at bottom of window, I right click,
selected : Insert VideoStudio Project Files.
I selected my 002_01.VSP, and it got pulled in without the
"unspecified error"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went to next page where you edit DVD Menu, it seems to
work!!!!!
I did not go in depth, just tried a couple of things, seems
to work.
I am so excited!!!
I have been battling this problem for weeks.
Since I was able to figure out the solution based on a hint
from your forum, I decided to go ahead and post this, perhaps
it may help someone else.

Re: VideoStudio pro x5 Ultimate, share, create disc, dvd
hi and welcome to the forum.
That's some post you have started with - I think if I follow it all correctly you are getting some satisfaction in burning DVD's now.
Just picking up on a couple of points

If it produced a perfectly good and playable .mpg file do not do anything with it - it is still a useful file. Many users have had problems going straight from the timeline (or using the vsp file) so that we generally recommend you do not do it - I never do that - I always make an mpg, check it - then burn it to DVD, but it could still be used in future projects.gag wrote:So, what do I do about 002_01.VSP?
This bit is not quite correct - you could have had a problem here but somehow avoided it - what you should have done here is "Insert VIDEO file" and imported the mpg you just made - not the vsp. Importing the vsp just goes through the whole conversion process again and could repeat your problem whereas importing the video cuts out that bit - as you have already done it and have a working mpg.gag wrote:So, this is what I did.
