I'm having a problem with running Paint Shop Pro X4. It was working yesterday, and this is the second time this has happened this year. The load gets as far as "loading cache settings", but then freezes. If I remember correctly, I reinstalled the program to correct this issue before, but was hoping there was a simpler way. Is there a file in the directory that can be deleted, and Corel would then rebuild it, to complete the load? I've attached a screen grab (snip) of the screen, showing where it stopped. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dale Morton

Re: PSP X4 Start Up Issue
Have you tried resetting the workspace? You'll lose any customizations you've made to the workspace but if you've saved a copy of your workspace you can always get those back.
To reset the workspace, hold the SHIFT key while opening PSP. It'll ask if you want to reset the workspace. This might also include the cache.
If this doesn't work you can delete the cache manually.
C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Corel PaintShop Pro\14.0\Cache\
Just rename those files (no point in deleting them if it doesn't help) to something like Brushes.old and so on. PSP when starting up will look for the PSPCache files and be unable to find them and so will start building new ones.

Re: PSP X4 Start Up Issue
Have you tried opening it again? Mine does that occasionally the first time I try to run it for the day. Mine often hangs on loading the color swatches. If I "end task" and try again, it usually opens on the second try. You might need to look under "Processes" in Windows Task Manager for a Corel entry and end that process before trying to load X4 again.
Using Paint Shop Pro versions 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 14, 16

Re: PSP X4 Start Up Issue
Thanks for the response to my problem. I didn't wait for either suggestion to be posted, and just used the 'Repair' option to re-install the software. That worked fine, until this morning when PSPX4 wasn't running after waking my pc up from hibernation. I double-clicked the icon to run it again, and had the same problem. I basically tried all 3 suggestions:
- 1. First just renamed the Cache folder, but on restart it just froze at the same location.
2. Tried to restart it after 'ending' it in the task manager, but had the same problem.
3. Finally tried the 'hold the shift key while starting program', and that worked.
