Re: VS X6 audio sync
Hi Weaver
I have a few HD samples from various sources and most show the first two frames as static, duplicate frames if you like.
Not sure if this is a Video Studio problem, nor whether the frames are visible after rendering, I don’t have sufficient samples to test for audio sync.
Most samples are from a Panasonic 700.
To remove a few frames from the beginning of a clip. Selecting the clip will place the curser on the first frame, nudge the digital clock to advance the curser frame by frame, or set the digital clock to 00:00:00:04.
Now hit the square bracket adjacent to the scissors. Float the mouse for a tool tip F3 will also remove the beginning frames.

Hi Trevor
Thank you very much . This is a good news, that other people have the same problem, I am not alone!
I use similar steps to remove those frames.

Re: VS X6 audio sync
Hi weaver and Trevor,
I did some more tests with counter patterns, and indeed the e two static frame (and five when 50/60p is enabled) are there with 50i footage, not with 50p original video. After rendering the static files are gone.e. So the right workflow if you want to downscale into SD(DVD) is to first render the original as AVCHD 50i, and use the rendered file in the timeline againg and create a SD file out of it

Re: VS X6 audio sync
I use exactly the same workflow. Sometimes not all those static frames go away and perhaps this creates the troubles.

Re: VS X6 audio sync
Here is the difference between the original HD rendered version ( upper track) and the downconverted SD version. (Lower track). The SD version is longer by about 0.3 sec in 7 min. length.

Hi
Are you able to upload the original video clip, we could then try rendering with our programs.

Hi
By the way if you go to Preferences F6—set Display Clip Mode to Thumbnail only and yore clip will display all frames.
Not that this will improve the render………

Just to confirm your findings
I have just purchased a Panasonic 900 camcorder so can now record my own clips.
When I record to 50P there are no static frames, when I use the Avchd record option using 25fps I see the two static frames at the beginning of each clip. That’s directly from the camera, no editing.
I need to do more tests, rendering a few clips to see what happens to the static frames, and need a little practice with the camera.

Trevor -- just to dot the i's, can you confirm *how* or with what you *see* the two static frames, please? Is it with VS, or with the Panny program for transferring it to your computer, or using cut and paste in Windows? I got a little confused when you said it's "directly from the camera" which could imply either that the frames were added regardless of what you were using to do the transfer, or that they are definitely added by VS for some reason......when I use the Avchd record option using 25fps I see the two static frames at the beginning of each clip. That’s directly from the camera, no editing.
And as a footnote, congratulations on your purchase!!

Re: VS X6 audio sync
Hi Ken
The two static frames (duplicate frames) are at the beginning of every clip. I use Video Studio to view the individual frames.
I first noticed having received sample HD video from various posters.
The Panasonic creates and saves the files to a BDMV folder (very similar to a bluray disc folder, from there I copy and paste from the Stream folder using windows explorer.
The files have the extension MTS
I do not have any software installed for the camera.
I continued a render test using two identical clips, no transitions and rendered same as first video, I expected to see the duplicates in the middle of the final clip, but no, I could not identify the duplicates, except for the beginning two.

Re: VS X6 audio sync
I did several tests and the resukts are rather confusing.
I took one of my videos w here I experienced the audio problems. This video is just 7 minutes but it seems to be still too long for the modt FTP servers. I oened my VS to cut it down to 2 minutes. Here is also the first audio glitch from the original. I rerendered the clips in all possible formats ( one s missing and I am unable to find this format. My original is rendered to 1920x1080, but in mog format: All freshly rendered videos have the m2t extensions:
Today all videos have a correct length and no audio glitches. The difference is just half frame: Actually I have no idea what to do, all my videos I made on VS X6 had the same troubles, today after new rendering all audio troubles are gone. This is the worst what could happen.

I do not know why those glitches came last time, I do not know why are my former HD videos in mpg formats and why are the same films today in m2t format.
