Hi. I'm trying to find a way of adding "film burn" or "light leak" effects (which give a faded, colour distorted, 70s look) to clips while editing in VSProX4. I'm working with SD avi clips, in a 4.3 aspect ratio (made with Mpeg Streamclip). I'm hoping to find something like a "grunge" effects plug-in, compatible with VS ProX4, that is not too expensive.
My OS is windows vista, 32 bit with a 98G hard drive and 4G of ram (on Toshiba Satellite Intel duo laptop).

Have you fully investigated all the "FX" filters supplied with VideoStudio - if all you want is faded colours then "Brightness and contrast" could do that - or maybe "Hue and Saturation" - or a combination of both or even more. You can customise each effect to change the end result and can almost certainly achieve what you want with existing filters.
for instance just reducing saturation only can achieve the following effect :-

Re: seeking film burn/light leak effects plug-in for VSProX4
Thank you for your suggestion.. and such a quick reply!
I have experimented with quite a few of the colour, light and saturation options for clips as well as various lighting and colour fx filters, but have not quite managed to capture the same kind of patchy colour and light look of retro 70s style.
There are probably a few more ideas I could try, like adding custom masks and extra overlays. I was hoping there might be an extra VS compatible retro effects plug-in out there that could make the job a little easier.
