Hi everyone. I'd like to add downloaded vst & vfx files to Corel VideoStudio X5 library... I'm not having any luck with the vfxs and haven't a clue with the vsts. Anyone?
Thanks.

Re: Adding effects to Corel VideoStudio X5
As far as I am aware VideoStudio only uses vfx files for the transitions - I do not think VS has the capability to edit them.
The vfx files which VS comes with can be found here :-
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X5\Vfx_plug
you could try adding your files there but that will not put them in a library that you can use.
as I say I don't think VS can edit them - have you tried just importing them to a library ? - what error do you get ?
and as for .vst - they are not listed anywhere as compatible with VS - .wav or mp3 is about all you can use.

Re: Adding effects to Corel VideoStudio X5
Hi Brian. No I hadn't tried importing them... I guess you mean the same as one would add media. I had dropped them in the vfx_plug folder followed by restarting the program, rebooting the computer... anything I could think of to get them to show up. Just now, I've noticed that I had downloaded an .exe file with the series of 24 .vfx files but it won't open & it's not zipped. I'll play with this some more & let you know how it goes.
I looked a little further for .vst files & found that the NewBlue audio plugs are .vsts. Now that I know where in VS to find some .vst files I'll play around with that too.
Thanks for the input.

Brian! I forgot to mention! I found the .vfx files among the "Steve's free stuff" postings & wanted to thank you for posting the referral. Steve has a lot of great stuff in there.

I just tried to import a .vfx into a library and get a 'file format mismatch' error - so that doesn't seem possible either.

Re: Adding effects to Corel VideoStudio X5
Hey there Brian... Me too. I hadn't used "import library" before but tried & got the same results as you. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Dropping audio .dll files in the NewBlue VST folder works well on the other hand. I added some basic, classic audio signal processing to my audio effects. The interfaces work perfectly & having a classic compressor & hard limiter is a huge help. Also helpful... a parametric EQ & a flexible noise gate. The only problem is that while adjusting compression I was limited to sampling adjustments at the beginning of the audio clip. To adjust settings appropriate to the audio dynamics in the middle of the clip I had to scrub through it, stop & reopen/ readjust the compressor then scrub again. The same compressor in my Audio MixPad app, such adjustments can be made on the fly.
It's nice to have plenty of practical tools on hand. Posting this might inspire anyone who hasn't tried adding .vst or .dll files.

Re: Adding effects to Corel VideoStudio X5
Hi Don
Sometimes after adding plug-ins and filters we need to reset the program to allow the libraries to populate with the new files.
If this does not help and you need your old libraries structure, simply re-place the 15.0 folder with the old one.
