Re: proDAD bundle w/Video Studio X6
Latest news about the Prodad plugins from Corel technical support : The issue with the Prodad plugins on Windows 8 has been escalated to Corel's product management team and as this possibly involves another service pack, it could take some time to fix. It's a pity Corel didn't discover this issue themselves before they launched the product, but "C'est la vie..."
Re: proDAD bundle w/Video Studio X6
I have also been working with Corel support on this issue and have just been told the same thing about it being escalated to the product management team for a service pack fix. Looks like it will be a while before we can use these plugins with Windows 8

Thank you for the info. I knew there was something big wrong. Guess I will have to wait for the patch.

Re: proDAD bundle w/Video Studio X6
As I have experienced also other problems with VideoStudio X6 under Windows 8 Pro x64 than those with the ProDAD plugins, I worked around this issues by installing a Windows 7/8 dual boot . All my programs remain Under Win 8, excepted VideoStudio which I reinstalled under Win 7. When I need CVS, I boot Under Win 7 and everything is working now like a charm. It costed me one afternoon to install the dual boot on a separate partition of my boot disk, Win 7 with it's many updates, some drivers, and also to reorganize some default directories on a common hard disc so I can easily use my video files from both operating systems. It's not an ideal solution but at least I can use a fully functional CVS X6 while waiting for another Corel service pack.

Click with the right mouse button in install mode Corel directory (c: \ program files (x86) \ Corel)
Click on properties.
On the Security tab click Edit
On the next screen click add
Type "everything" without cotes and hit ok
Click ok again.
Do the same procedure with the proDAD directory (c: \ program files (x86) \ proDAD)
There, the problems of "can not find" the PRODAD are fix.

Re: proDAD bundle w/Video Studio X6
Thank you for your help. I followed your instructions but it did not work for me. I am still receiving the same error messages, even after rebooting.
By the way, as I am using the French version of both Win 8 and CVS X6, "everything" is not accepted and I replaced it by "Tout le monde" which is the equivalent in the French version of Win 8.
So, I am sticking to Win 7 when using CVS X6 and Win 8 for all other programs as long as Corel does not provide any solution to this incompatibility with Win 8.

For me, I installed corel in c:\corel and prodad in c:\corel\prodad.
After installation on custom directory, change permissions for everything...in brazilian portuguese is "todos".
Good luck,

Re: proDAD bundle w/Video Studio X6
Corel made a bad integration of the ProDad extensions in CVS X6 under Win 8 x64. So, until Corel issues a correcting service pack, I prefer to stick to Win 7 instead of trying again to change the permissions or/and trying different locations and so on. The program is advertized by Corel as working Under Win 8, as is. It's up to Corel to make it really work. Everything else is misleading. Thanks anyway for your suggestions.

Re: proDAD bundle w/Video Studio X6
I am having this problem too after purchasing the X6 Ultimate from Amazon for download and installing the product. Following Tommy's suggestion I uninstalled Vitascene, and installed Vitascene LE 2.0 from http://www.prodad.com. The demo version will open, but trying to open Vitascene from within VS still produces the error. I even added Everyone/Full Control to the Corel VS install directory and its members, and that did not resolve the problem.tommy12 wrote:There is a way to tell if it is a Corel implementation problem or a ProDad Win 8 problem. First, make of copy of all the ProDad Folders that contain the plug-ins to some other location. Then, uninstall all the ProDad software you have installed. Next, download and install the trial version of Vitascene V2 LE from the ProDad website. If the trial version works ok you know that it's the Corel implementation and not a ProDad/Win8 problem.
If the trial version works ok, at this point it might be possible to use some of the original ProDad files you saved a copy of before the uninstall to make your trial version into a full version. You could try deleting the trial version plug-ins in whatever folder the trial version installed them to, and then replacing them with your original saved Corel plug-ins by simply copying them into that folder.
Tommy
I guess I'll do a complete reinstall with those permissions set and see if that makes a difference.
[Update]
I did a complete reinstall of everything after giving setting everyone/Full Control on the Corel and proDAD directories under Program Files (x86), and then checked to make sure that the permissions were inherited by the contents after they were installed. I am still seeing the error messages when I try to access one of the three mentioned plug-ins.

Re: proDAD bundle w/Video Studio X6
Running Process Monitor allowed me to see what DDLs were being referenced when VS Pro attempts to access one of the proDAD plugins, and I could see that the program was searching for another DLL that is not mentioned in the error messages. For RotoPen for example it appears that Heroglyph40RoutePluginSupport.dll searched for a file called Heroglyph40RouteRender.dll within several different directories starting with directories belonging to VS Pro, and then through the normal Windows search path. Here is screen shot of Process Monitor illustrating the search.

As a test I copied the contents of the three proDAD plugin directories into one of the searched paths specifically C:\Users\Yoder\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\16.0. Many of the files were identical, and some had the same names, but different sizes or dates, so I had to choose which to copy in those cases.
When I ran VS Pro again and clicked on the proDAD icons this time the error messages that I saw before did not pop open as before. Instead the animation for the effect showed up in the media player. That had not happened before for me, so I counted that as progress.
However, I'm not home yet. When I try to actually use the effects, I get a new prompt when I click on "Customize Filter" for the effect I get a new pop up asking for a new license that looks like this.

I found a license file for Vitascene and submitted that. It removed the license prompt, but when I try to configure it it appears to flash something on the screen, but then it immediately disappears.
It would be better just to add the proDAD plugin directories into the search path rather than copy the files to a path that is already searched, so I will try that next, but if anyone has any ideas about the license prompt, I have open ears.

Re: proDAD bundle w/Video Studio X6
Hi
First of all if the problem is Windows 8 associated you will be best contacting Corel.
No Corel employees will read your posts here.
We are simply volunteers and like you use the software.
If your 90 day support period has passed Corel do have Facebook account, I know others have used and do get responses.
OK
You must install the prodad effects from the files provided by Corel, the Video Studio Ult Bonus pack. I assume you have a Bonus Disc? Installing these should not ask for a licence when used
If you install from files downloaded from the internet they will ask for a licence number.
If you have done this then uninstall all, including VS and re-install starting with VS.
Once you have installed the Prodad (Mercalli, RotoPen, Script, Vitascene) they should show in the FX Library, if not then try re-setting video studio to its default factory settings.

I bought the program from Amazon and downloaded the media from their site. It has two install files that correspond to both disks in the boxed set. I installed the Bonus disk after installing VS Pro, so I did have the proDAD plugins show up in the FX Library. You must install the prodad effects from the files provided by Corel, the Video Studio Ult Bonus pack. I think the license prompt showed up only because I used files from a directory that did not already include the license.mtkey file when I copied the plugin files where they could be found in the search path. One thing that interests me though is that I don't think the license.mtkey files for any of the plugins is ever saved in a directory with the plugins DLL. I found three license.mtkey files in directories under the AppData\proDAD directory for HeroglyphRoute-4.0, HeroglyphScript-4.0, and Vitascene-2.0, but none of the DLLs are installed there. The one plugin that does work, Mercalli-2.0, does not seem to have installed a license.mtkey anywhere as far as I can tell. I may just have to use Process Monitor to see where VS looks for the license files for the products to get around that issue. If you install from files downloaded from the internet they will ask for a licence number.
If you have done this then uninstall all, including VS and re-install starting with VS.
I have not tried that yet, but I will give that a try as well.Once you have installed the Prodad (Mercalli, RotoPen, Script, Vitascene) they should show in the FX Library, if not then try re-setting video studio to its default factory settings.
Thanks for your reply. I know that Corel does not follow these forums, but I haven't had a lot of success with Corel support in the past. I hoped to get a few ideas from users to see if there was something I could try rather than go through the delays that contacting support would likely entail. My understanding is that Corel is working on a Windows 8 SP to get these plugins working, but the last word on that I've found was from last June. I've gotten things farther that some others through my investigation, so that course still seems to be worthwhile.

Re: proDAD bundle w/Video Studio X6
Hi:
I read your post and had the same problem as you. I bought the download version of VS Ultimate 6 from Corel directly. I installed the VS application and then installed the bonus pack that comes with Ultimate. Some of the plugins worked under FX and some did not. In particular, when I tried to use the "Script" fx on a file, it would indicate the wrong license.
Here is a solution for the problem as I just got it to work - but at first I didn't think it worked.
I'm assuming the "Script" fx shows on the FX options of VS. Drag the "Script" fx filter onto a video file in the main video time line. Then, double click the video to see the "Video" and "Attribute" tabs for the video clip (alternately you can single click the video clip with the Script filter, then click the "Options" text at the bottom right of where you get your video viles in VS).
Next, select the "Attribute" tab by clicking on it.
Select the "Script" filter in the list of filters applied to that video file.
Then Select "Customer Filter" underneath it.
If this opens the "Wrong License" dialog box, where all your allowed to do is enter a valid license number, cancel or use read mode, then select "enter valid license". When you do this, you will need to go to the following directory on your computer to pick the file.
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X6 Setup Files\PlugIns\ProDAD HandScript\Setup\current"
At this point double click the file, "licence.mtkey" (alternately, click the file "licence.mtkey" and then click "OK").
It will seem like it didn't work at this point, but it actually will have worked. You will see the same dialog box immediately pop up, "Enter valid licence". At this point click "Cancel" to close the dialog box.
Now, "Script" should be working fine. Try it out and if you have any problems still, please let me know. I hope this helps.

We are now half a year later. Meanwhile, Windows 8 has been updated to Windows 8.1. but Corel didn't anything to resolve their problem with the ProDad bundle not functionning Under WIn 8 (or win 8.1 for that matter). I suppose they are wating for us to pay the full price for coming CVS X7. It's a real shame for Corel not to have adressed this well known problem after such a long time !

Re: proDAD bundle w/Video Studio X6
Corel never fixed their bug in CVS X6 Pro Ultimate and what I suspected in my previous post did happen : They are now launching X7 so we can pay once more for (almost) de same software. Ok, it's supposed now to work in 64 bits + a few minor "improvements", but did they fix the well known issue of the not functionning 4 ProDAD plugins ???
I downloaded the trial version in the page about CVS X7 ULTIMATE but what I received is only the X7 Pro and not the Ultimate version (or at least, the Ultimate bonus is desactivated) so I could not test the proDAD plugins.
Does anybody know wether these Plugins are now completely functionnal with CVS X7 Pro Ultimate under Windows 8.1 - 64bits or not ?
