proDAD bundle w/Video Studio X6

Post by koko3214 »

Anyone having the same issues as to compatibility after installing the bundle that came with Corel Video Studio Pro X6? The CVS Pro X6 works fine but any of the extras that was installed "proDAD" apps do not work. Error messages pop up if the proDAD apps applied for effect. The Corel Video Pro X5 is the same problem with windows 8 "even with the update patch." I thought other application may cause the error but ended up doing a clean install of Windows 8 64bit and only install quicktime and java then CVS Pro X6 and nothing else, but the bundle software still came up with errors.

Thanks

Can you tell us exactly what the error messages say, or post a screen shot of one of them, please? And can you confirm this happens with all the proDad filters? What happens with Boris Graffiti?

Hi

This is from windows 7 I assume the locations will be the same for Windows 8

When viewing this folder I see:-
C:\Program Files (x86)\proDAD
prodad 1.jpg

The actual prodad plug-in files should be here:-

C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X6\vft_plug

Do you see these files?

What do you think, should I just downgrade my OS to Win 7? I would hate to do so. I love win 8 and it would be a shame if for no other reason down grading just for this one software to work. Every other video editing software works with Win 8:

pinnacle studio 16
Avid
Serif Movie Plus X6
AVS Video editor

And My Adobe premiere CS 6.5.

So, for the life of me don't understand why having the plug-in problem with CVSX 6 in windows 8? before doing second clean install of Win 8 I installed my last version of Corel Video Studio X5 and same problem. After a clean install "second time" I installed it again "X5" and no change - proDAD pop up with errors. So, it is not just version X6, but X5 does not work with Win 8.

Hi

Not sure what to suggest but some of my thoughts……….

Are you able to run Video Studio or does the error message stop VS from starting.

If you can start VS does the filters show in the FX library within “all” and the “prodad2 page.
If not then try resetting the program to its factory default status.

If it is a windows 8 issue you should be able to run the program in Windows 7 Compatibility, I think, at least I can do that to W7 and XP
From the desktop---Right click the Video Studio icon and select properties, then Compatibility tab.

As an aside I had a problem with a laptop running W7 64bit, turned out to be a graphics driver issue, so just to rule out a similar problem, can you try inserting a Jpeg image to the timeline, are you able to do that?

Yes, VS will run once I click the ok error message 8 times to close window then VS runs. But, while VS is running can't use any of proDAD plug-in otherwise the error box appears.

The Filters does show in the box but as stated above, they will not run.

Yes, I can insert a jpeg image into timeline. But, here is an update since your last post. I did another clean install but with Windows 7. After the new OS was installed I made sure every damn windows updates was performed. Then I install java, quicktime, and adobe reader. Now, I just completed the Corel Video Studio installation and the bundle software proDAD included. I rebooted with every installment. I started VS and no error messages. I place some samples on the timeline then applied proDAD effects and NO ERRORS.

I must have been right, it is not the intel video card nor any other form of hardware, but it is windows 8 that Corel did not address this probelm. Corel did not provide the right driver code for either video or other hardware to make this software run in win 8.

Now, after writing this reply I going to do a upgrade to win 8 on top of 7 and see if corel will still run.

Update

I upgraded windows 7 to windows 8 and Corel Video Studio is having the proDAD issues. I didn't do a clean install. I upgraded win 7 to 8. So, Corel Studio bundle software does not have a problem running in win 7,but it is by no doubt the bundle software will not work in Windows 8.

Forgot to mention. I am going back to do a clean install of Windows 7 that I may use the CVS with the bundle plug-ins. I did call and spoke with a Corel rep advising about the compatibility issue with Windows 8. A supervisor will be calling me back. I think they're not aware of this since many users didn't upgrade to Win 8. And those who did buy a new system are mostly not doing video editing. But, I am sure if not 100% certain most corel users are still using windows 7 32bit or 64bit and this makes it hard to correct the code in this software.

I have had the same issue. After reading a lot of on line posts, and uninstalling and re-installing many times, I have finally managed to get it everything working. I repeated this process on several computers with success.

1. Install newest version of quick time.
2. Reboot
3. Install Visual Studio
4. Reboot, check everything works. Reboot.
5. Install add on pack
6. Reboot
7. Check if it works.

If I did not follow this sequence, I needed to re-install windows 8, then follow this order, and it then worked.
I was not thrilled to have to re-install my entire operating system, but luckily my computer is only a few weeks old, so it was manageable.

Hope this helps.

Although, I am replying a month later because its taken me this long to resolve the bundle software in windows 8. I tried the install process as you do, installs and reboots and no luck. I will also add that I i did a clean install but with windows 7 64 "same laptop" and installed the coral video studio with bundle software - it works! It is not a video card or any other form of hardware issues, it is a windows 8 issue or a corel issue, whereby they did not code the bundle correctly for win 8! This was address to corel but they're planning hardware and not their programmers. I am assuming those who purchased CVS with bundle plug-ins are still using windows 7, so it is not widely address.
