I have Corel X5 version of videostudio
I want to fade a title when it exits from my video. You can see in this video the title abruptly ends (you'll see it in the first 10 sec of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ag6iX_xMVnM
I would like to have the title gradually fade away. Any idea how to do this?

Re: Fade titles
Click on the title block in the timeline - if the 'Options' panel does not open then open it by clicking on the blue 'options' button above the right hand end of the timeline.
The panel has two tabs - by default the panel opens in the edit tab - select the 'Attribute' tab then click to put a blob in the radio button next to 'Animation'. then click to put a check mark in the box next to 'Apply'. The panel just below that will become available to you and a small drop down just above it. change the drop down to show 'Fade' and the window below it will offer you a number of varieties of fade - sounds like you just want the left hand one on the second row - select that.
Close the options panel and play your title - to change the length of the fade move the orange slider on the blue bar immediately under the preview screen.

Re: Fade titles
Hi All,
I must be doing something wrong. I tried the procedure and it worked but it caused the animation in the title to stop and the title became static.
I applied a Dissolve from the Transition library to the end of a title clip and it works and preserves the animation, but then how can you change the length of the dissolve and how can you delete it later if you want.
On a similar note, I'm trying to fade in a video clip from black by preceding the clip by a black clip from the Graphic library and then inserting a Crossfade from the Transition library. There must be an easier way?
Thanks,
Tommy

Re: Fade titles
Transitions can be treated just the same as any other item in the timeline - that is - click on it to select it (yellow line all round) - open the options panel - change the 'duration' setting - click somewhere else in the options panel to set the new time - job done.
i cannot think of an easier way of fading in other that black colour block - crossfade transition.

Re: Fade titles
Hi Tommy
It does appear you have already applied an animation to your title, then need the title to fade out, is this correct?
If yes, right click the first title clip, choose copy and drop on timeline, position adjacent to first title clip, no gaps. Change the animation to Fade Out.
As for the video clip, are you working in the top track or the overlay tracks?

Hi Guys,
Thank you both for your answers!
Thanks again for answering my novice questions,
Tommy

The problem was that I was trying to select the Transition while the title clip was already selected, so when I clicked the transition, nothing happened. I had to double-click in that case to select the transition.I applied a Dissolve from the Transition library to the end of a title clip and it works and preserves the animation, but then how can you change the length of the dissolve and how can you delete it later if you want.
Works good, thanks. I can't believe I didn't see that there is a Fade to Black Transition ready to go in the library. But I can see how your procedure can also be very useful to create other effects besides a simple fade-out while still preserving the animation. Always good learning something new and useful. It does appear you have already applied an animation to your title, then need the title to fade out, is this correct?

I am working with the video clip in the top video track. I originally tried putting my title clip in there too, but moved it to the title track for ease of working with it separately. As for the video clip, are you working in the top track or the overlay tracks?
Thanks again for answering my novice questions,
