VSPX6 Ultimate Rendering Issue
I have had this product for about a week and it is fabulous compared to any other video editors I have tested.
There is something odd happening, however. I am using the Mercalli plug-in to stabilize hand-held videos. This works great but the rendered video always has a message overlaid saying the Mercalli analysis must be re-run (even if it has just been done). There IS an exception: render to mpeg4 and everything's fine - stabilization has been applied and no message. If I then take the exact same project (no changes) and render into AVCHD (for example), the output is ruined with the overlay. If I go back into the project again to have a look at what's up re-analysis is NOT called for.
Best wishes,
k.

Re: VSPX6 Ultimate Rendering Issue
Hi
Well yes I also see the same. I have used Mercalli in the past, not so long ago with no problems.
Very strange, maybe others can confirm your findings?
I will do a few more tests?
Oh thanks for the info

Thanks for confirming. I am quite happy with MP4 for now but will eventually need other formats. Will also do some more tests and report findings.

Re: VSPX6 Ultimate Rendering Issue
What are we actually rendering to - I have not noticed this in any of my videos and I just specially rendered out another using AVCHD(1920x1080) - are you using any of the 24p/25p/50p options.

Re: VSPX6 Ultimate Rendering Issue
Hi Brian
I used the sample balloons from the library, added Mercalli and customised to scan as Fimnal Result.
Then returned to the timeline Share Create Video File – DV retained the warning notice to the new video file.
The video Analysis must be run again, and contained the darker filter associated with this warning.
It is definitely embedded to the video file and I am sure I am using it correctly.
I have tried a few formats, when I did mpeg2 and rendered Same as First Clip it worked ok.
I have never seen this before when I have used Mercalli in the past.
I am running X6, also tried X5 with similar problems.
I am totally confused as I don’t think any thing has changed.
Just about to give the Laptop a run?

Re: VSPX6 Ultimate Rendering Issue
if I take the balloons sample which is a .wmv - apply the filter and then analyse then render a DV file - then the warning and dark overlay appears in the output file.
If I take one of my .avi files and do exactly the same then I do NOT get the warning and all is good.
If I take one of my AVCHD flies and repeat the process then again I do NOT get the warning and all is good.
on my laptop it seems to depend on which file I start with.

Re: VSPX6 Ultimate Rendering Issue
Hi
Thanks Brian, that’s the conclusion I came to, depends on the type of file being used.
But should be ok with all types…………
I will try a few more video formats, but Mpeg types seem ok, and your Pana 700 samples don’t have a problem.
May have to wait till tomorrow now
Oh I did try disabling Smart Render which does help for some problems, no change there.

Re: VSPX6 Ultimate Rendering Issue
I seem to recall a much earlier thread, possibly associated with Mercalli in X5, which indicated that the output, after applying Mercalli, had to be frame based/progressive. Certainly that accords with my own use of the filter for both HD and SD output.
For instance, I have just used an AVCHD clip, applied the filter and then Share > Create Video File > DVD, accepting the defaults including Upper Field First. The output has that message and darkening applied. However, when I chose Share > Create Video File > Custom, selected SD mpeg-2 as the output format, and changed UFF to Frame Based, the output was very good and did not have that message.
The same also happens if I choose Blu-Ray mpeg-2 as the output, and accept the default which includes UFF. But if I go the Custom route and select Frame Based, no message. Ditto for AVCHD. WMV works straight off, I assume because it is Frame Based in the Corel defaults.

Re: VSPX6 Ultimate Rendering Issue
Hi Ken
There must be more to this, I used the Balloons sample, that’s Frame Based WMV and the problem was there.
I also converted a video some time ago using Frame Based Mts H264 and that is ok.
Ten pin bowling this morning, so will test later.......

Re: VSPX6 Ultimate Rendering Issue
Colleagues,
I bought a ticket ($20) and put in a request to Corel for assistance with this. They sent the document included, for your consideration, as text at the end of this posting. Following those steps I still get that message overlaid on my output but .mp4 remains fine. I will fool with this some more later today. IMO if we have to go through "Custom" settings to avoid this problem then that's a workaround, not a real solution but ... providing it can be made to work (which so far I cannot) that's quite acceptable for now. Presumably this will get fixed in a future release or patch.
I will post any additional findings here.
My "ticket" remains open at Corel for now. I could pass on any additional information from you and assume this will be OK by them.
Best wishes,
k.

Re: VSPX6 Ultimate Rendering Issue
Trevor -- I just used the balloon clip you mentioned (V14), applied Mercalli, used the Customize Filter on it, then rendered to a new WMV, and it worked perfectly, as had my previous use of V01 (the plane wing).

Re: VSPX6 Ultimate Rendering Issue
Hi Ken/Klinder
Thanks Ken, I have re-tested the "balloons" again, rendering to WMV does seem ok, it is when you convert to another format causes problems.
I have tried a variety of formats Mov, DV, Mpeg2, Mts etc and all seem ok only when using WMV and rendering to another format -- DV for instance gives the problem.
I have also tried a variety of field orders/frame based all ok.
Klinder
What type of video are you using?
Are you using the samples from the library.
