Videostudio X6 Ultimate WMV rendering problem

Post by attorianzo »

I've completed my project, I try to render it to WMV 720. Rendering is very fast, and although my project is set to 720 x 576, it renders automatically to 208 x 160. It seems to be no way to get a render with 720 x 576... Why?

I wonder if it is a 64 bit codec problem..

I'm at work at the moment so I can't check the program, but....

WMV 720 is 1280 x 720 resolution I think. The program is probably having issues with your source files not matching the output parameters, so it is scaling down.

Check the output parameters (these are not the same as the project settings, which are for editing display only).

I would have to agree with Natal. If you are choosing Share > Create Video File > WMV HD 720 25P as the output option, then it should produce video which is 1280 x 720 at 25 full frames per second using a Windows Media Video 9 codec. So do you have the Series 9 encoders installed? If not, they are available on the Microsoft site.

I have just tried it, and get the above.

The other way of going about it is to choose Share > Create Video File > Custom. Then you choose "Windows Media Video (*.wmv, *.asf)" as the output format, and hit the Options button. In the new dialogue box which appears, choose the Profile tab. In the 'Profiles' drop down menu at the top, the relevant choice is "Ulead - WMV HD 720P PAL Standard Quality". You should also see a large variety of other options, including a number which refer to Series 9. If the latter are not there, then as I say, you can find the Series 9 encoders on the Microsoft website.

Hi

Can you confirm just what you see:-

When you do Share Create Video File—WMV HD 720 25p the save window opens, the lower panel “properties” shows the conversion details, I see these:-

Windows Media Video
24 bits, 1280 x 720, 16:9, 25 fps
Frame-based
44.100 KHz, 16 bits, Stereo
Ulead - WMV HD 720p PAL Standard Quality

What do you see?

Now in a new project use a video sample from the library, this time when choosing WMV what do you see? I am guessing the same.

If its different to the above using 208 x 160 then I think it is a Wmv Codec issue.

1 / Update Windows Media Player to the latest version
2 / As Ken mentioned Install WMV Encoder, this may now be part of Windows Essentials
3 / Check Windows Auto Updates are current.
4 / Re- installing Video Studio may be required.

All above should install WMV codecs to your pc.

You mention 720 x 576 this is a Pal frame size which could be 16:9 or 4:3 ratio
Can you give full details of your video file, right click a clip in the timeline and select properties, what are they.?
