Videostudio X5 Unspecified Error

Post by space309 »

Hi,

I'm really hoping someone can help me with this problem. I've had Videostudio X5 for a couple of months now, and it's worked just fine. I haven't used any patches or done any updates. However, now I have a message coming up that reads "The program has encountered and unspecified error and has stopped functioning. Please contact Corel Technical Support and send the dump file for analysis." I've found the file and taken a screenshot of the error message. This message occurs after I edit for a while. I tried to go through Technical Support, but it looks like I can only get support within 90 days of registration, which I've passed.
I transferred my files from my camcorder, (using its memory card) which files are .MTS. I've been using this camcorder in conjunction with X5 for awhile.
The video data rate is 23791kbps.
The videos are NTSC.
I'm unable to find audio details as the program keeps coming up with the error message.
I use X5 to upload youtube videos, and that's what I was planning with this video.
If there is any more information I can provide, please let me know. I'm eager to resolve this problem as I love using X5 and want to continue using it. Thank you SO much!

Hi! Thanks for the welcome. I'm sorry to dump a problem on you guys as soon as I join up. Sadly, that thread doesn't have my problem. It's not a problem with launching, this error message occurs after editing for a little while. Even so, I looked for Babylon and the other programs, but found none. :(

Hi
Can you give details of the video properties, right click a clip and select properties.

If it’s a problem with the library then re-setting that may cure the problem.
Settings Library Manager, first do Export to save a copy of the library just in-case you wish to restore
Then Reset will return the library to its defaults.

If that does not change things……
manually resetting Corel VideoStudio Pro X5 to its Factory Default Setting may help

Update using the Service Packs

QuickTime, I assume you have this installed, reverting to an earlier version (7.5.5) has cured some crashes???
Earlier QuickTime Player Versions

Now running out of ideas try re-install Video Studio

Hi everyone, I'm echoing "space309". I do have the same problem for the past 10 days - Unspecified error - dump file.
The difference is that my problem is at launch of the program, so I cannot intervene on it in any way.
I have tried everything even re-installing the program but does not work. Every time I try to open the program, it comes up with a different number of dump file (the last 3 digits keep on changing). I'm not a guru of software and I'm now totally lost.
Can anyone have a solution for this??
Thanks in advance.

Dear Iata,

I have tried to set to manual the BrowserProtector but does not help.

The problem of the dump files happens when I open the VideoStudio X5, it gives me the warning message then, it shuts off.
I do not have any chance to reset to factory setting from within the program.

Is there any other solution that you may suggest?
As I said earlier, I have already removed and re-installed the upgrade to X5 from X3 with all patches, still to no avail.

Thanks for taking so much time, really appreciate it.
Regards
Matteo
