VS X5 Convert Step got some problems

Post by macka28 »

Error message "Convert Step got some problems" occurs at 28% of detailed progress on Share>Create Disc step. My VSP contains video from a canon, Olympus and a sports camera (mov and avi files). I have been able to create an MPEG-2 file (Share> Create file>DVD>MPEG2) and it plays successfully so have eliminated problems related to video encoding. Tried disabling menus and chapters and still get the same error.
VideoStudio version 15.2.0.10.
Project Settings:
PAL (25 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Upper Field First
(DVD-PAL), 16:9

What do you suggest next?

Hi
And welcome to the forums

Not sure exactly where it is failing, in the Convert Title stage or Convert Menu stage??

If you have successfully created a Mpeg2 of the project you can use that to burn the disc, I would recommend using this process for all your work. No need for Convert Title stage.

OK try this

Start a new project, nothing in the timeline
Share Create Disc-opens the burner module.
Top left icon Insert Media-Insert Video file

Add the Mpeg2 file you created earlier, this should be a Compliant Mpeg2 file and does not need any further rendering.
Complete the menu structure.
From the last page choose to Create a Disc Image file or DVD folder.
At least you wont waste a disc should the process fail.
I usually create the Disc Image

I play the disc image using VLC Player to view the quality
if ok
Burn the ISO using Tools- Burn from disc image

Thanks for the feedback. The problem was in the convert title step - my logic was that the problem was related to titles or chapters since the mpeg2 file was created without problems. I'll try your suggestion in the next few days (I've always gone straight to create disk in the past without problems).

Hi

From a new empty project----If you add a compliant Mpeg2 to the burner module there will be no Convert Title step. Unless you have applied Normalise Audio from the last window.
The process will begin with Convert Menu

If you do Share Create Disc with your project open then you are exporting the VSP/ Project file to the Burner Module, this is not a compliant video file and will be converted to Mpeg2 prior to burning the disc, that is the Convert Title stage.
