Playing finished DVD on DVD player

Post by roberta »

Hi I'm not having any trouble copying my slides and making the PictureShow. Burn it onto a disc and wah lah ... :)
I have used the same DVD player to play earlier disc's I've made on my television and suddenly they won't play anymore in the same player. It seems they skip about three times and then return to the beginning of CD or to opening page ... :?
I am thinking something must have changed in the recording sessions...otherwise I haven't a clue as to why I can't watch them on my own TV set via the player.
Anyone have any ideas .... also does it make any difference what brand of DVD disc one uses for the recordings? Perhaps its the disc itself ...I have been purchasing Memorex and TDK's because of the price.

It's a fact that certain players do not like certain media but there is no fixed rule to this. Blank disks are only manufactured in a handfull of places. The TDK you buy today does not necessarily come from the same factory as the previous batch. It's best to stay clear of no name, cheap disks, and stick with well known brand names. I have used TDK's for a long time with no problem but my new laptop does not like them. It's atricky world out there.

recording speed

Post by Telgaladhion_Greyskye »

your DVD was probably burned at a faster speed than it can handle. try checking what recording speed your DVD's can handle so you can adjust it before burning. This happened to me lots before, i didn't check 'em before burning and i ended up with defective DVD's. hope this helps

the problem was

Okay, I guess if I can ask the question, I can share the answer. After taking my DVD player to the repair shop to be checked out (there wasn't anything wrong with it) I realized it had to have been the disc's I was using. So I went to the local Office Depot and bought some Office Depot DVD's .... brought them home and copied the CD's I had already made and wouldn't play on my DVD ... so the ending of this story is ... the Memorex DVD's would not play on my DVD player. Every DVD that didn't work on the player, I copied onto Office Depot disc's and they are all working perfectly.... thanks to all of you who helped me out by leading me into the right direction.

I'm glad the problem was found and was that easy to fix. Congratulations and thanks for sharing that with us.
