H.264 HD import

I am using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 to edit my videos and typically export in the H.264 format. Unfortunately, Corel DVD MovieFactory 7 doesn't accept these videos when I try to import them. I'm assuming (maybe incorrectly) that it is either a profile, bitrate or other option that is causing the issue in my export settings on Premiere Pro that is causing the incompatibility with Corel DVD MovieFactory 7.

What H.264 are recommended for importing into this software so I can create a Blu-ray disk?

I have CS4 Premiere Pro, and found that the AVCHD h.264 video produced by it uses the .m4v extension which VS and MF do not recognise. I never found a way to get Premiere to produce a file with either .mts, .m2ts or even .mpg as its extension, all of which VS and MF recognise.

Maybe things have changed with CS 6, but by the sounds of it, maybe not!

I don't believe Premiere Pro supports exporting AVCHD, although you can import.

It looks like in my case, I am better exporting as MPEG-2 in 1080i and that seems to work from my early tests within the Corel software.

Mpeg-4 video produced using the h.264 codec is AVCHD, and CS4 -- and I imagine CS6 -- can certainly produce it, though as I said using the .m4v extension. Apart from using Adobe's authoring program, which can certainly use .m4v video, other higher end programs can also see and import that format, Vegas being one I'm pretty sure. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Apple editing programs can also handle it.

I think part of the problem is that Premiere exports the video and audio in different streams, or even as separate video and audio files, though I am not 100% sure about that.

But yes, producing high def transport stream (and Blu-Ray compatible) mpeg-2 will work.

I am having the same problem... only using Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended to export H.264 format. Photoshop produces an mp4 format but Corel DVD MovieFactory 7 won't accept it. Any ideas of what other settings to try. I prefer not to export to quicktime mov.

Unfortunately not. This is a user to user forum, and those of us who staff it are unpaid volunteer users just like you. Corel employees rarely visit.

I am also not sure about your assumption that there are dedicated developers for Movie Studio. It is now quite an old product, and though still available, there has been no indication from Corel that they are developing a new version. In fact, when MF7 was originally released, they had made it plain they were planning to drop the product altogether -- only a stuff-up on their part with the Video Studio X3 burning module led them to issue a cut-down version of MF 7. Since then they have left the full MF 7 available in their on-line store.

But at least now I know that Premiere CS6 produces an .mp4 file -- though I have no real idea why MF7 cannot open it.

I have been using MPEG-2 1080i matching the settings of the Blu-ray MPEG-2 profile provided by Adobe export templates so I get a single file and it works absolutely fine now. Not as efficient a codec as H.264 but it works very well still and you can import it to create a Blu-ray disk using the Corel software.

When I choose to render a Photoshop video group, I only see H.264, Quicktime, and DPX. Quicktime is uncompressed and so not usable, and DPX does not seem to be what I need. What options are you selecting?

In that case you will probably need to export to H.264 at a very high quality and then convert that file to MPEG-2, messy but one way of doing it.

It isn't worth it. I was evaluating this software, but since it can't handle Photoshop's AVCHD format, I will have to find something else that does. MultiAVCHD works with Photoshop's AVCHD format. My apologies if I'm not allowed to reference another product on this board. I would gladly have bought this software if it supported my file format and others may have to find a different solution as well.
