hi,
I come here with a pretty common PSP issue (according to what I've read) but I found no solution so far => when trying to launch PSP X5 here is the error message that pops up: "This copy of PaintShop Pro has been damaged or illegally modified" (on Win 7 x86)
This license has never been used on another computer and Protexis Licensing is installed and running. Previous versions of PSP have all been uninstalled.
Here is what I did to try fixing this issue:
- uninstalled PSP, clean all folders (Program Files, ProgramData, user profile), run CCleaner (files and registry), reboot then reinstall PSP. No luck
- uninstall Protexis Licensing, reboot, repair PSP (in order to get Protexis re-installed). No luck
- follow instructionos given here (http://corel.force.com/index/articles/e ... 000000L31e) with no luck (PaintShop Pro folder was missing in C:\Program Data\Corel, but creating it + reboot did not solve the problem.
Any help will be welcomed. Thanks

I had this problems with X3 and X4 versions many times. I re-installed PaintShop Pro and it helped me. X5 is fine so far.

I personaly use Acronis True Image Home on work and home computer.
When everything is working fine I do make backups (once for 3 months). But before I do some important program upgrades I make too. For safety.
(I keep two last full backups of my drive C:\)
It saved me many times from disasters. Really! Recovery takes only 10 minutes.

Quick question, is Protexis setup to start "automatically" or "automatically (delayed start)"? It probably has nothing to do with your situation but worth asking at least.
