VideoStudio X6 Installation ERROR

I NEED HELP WITH INSTALLATION PLEASE!

- I've tried to install the new Video Studio X6 but had a system freeze-up, so I tried it again.
- Then, on second trial, instead of installing, it removed the software!
- After that it started to give me an error message that the software is already installed and I have to remove it first, even though the software is NOT installed!
- Restarted my computer, tried it again, but the same.

I've checked it, but the program is NOT there, not anywhere! I've found the installation directory, deleted it, tried again, but no use, It's the same error message!

Any idea to WHERE can I find ALL the remaining components that would suggest the "presence" of the program, so I can install it properly?

Have your tried letting the uninstall routine complete itself?

Other than that, though, I suspect your only alternative would be to delete any reference to X6 in the Registry using regedit.

Yes, it finished the uninstall. I've also checked the RegEdit, but couldn't figure it out. I've tried to follow the basic steps I've found online, but I couldn't identify the "keys" of Corel VS X6, so at this point I have no idea which one are supposed to be the ones to remove.

Do you know any links that could explain the proper "removal" procedure?

I usually open regedit, then click on Find. What you enter depends on how many other Corel programs you have on your computer. If X6 was the only one, then I would search for all reference to Corel, and simply delete them.

But if you have other Corel products, but no other version of Video Studio, then I would search for -- and delete -- all references to Video Studio.

Or if you have no other program which calls itself X6, then search for and delete all references to X6.

I've found this page and followed the instructions about what to remove.

There were a couple of "keys" that needed to be removed, as well as references to other keys that were supposed to include references to X6, however, those keys did not have any such file inside, so I didn't remove them.

Now I try and run a Disk Cleanup, Reboot, and also thinking about to try and install the "Trial" version of X6 Ultimate, hoping that it would work and then apply my registration code to that.

I've spent the entire afternoon with this thing and still nothing.

Out of desperation, when it suggested that the program is still present, I even removed the fully functional X5 Ultimate, which did not solve the problem. So, now I'm without ANY operational version of this software!

OK, I'll check back in a minute with an update after reboot.

Now things really turned UGLY over here!
- After reboot I've tried to install the Trial version of X6 Ultimate, which I managed to do!
- However, all of the basic content files (images, clips, etc) indicated "missing" and the program asked if the icons should be deleted within the program, which I did not select.
- Tried to remove, since this time the program IS listed in the Control Panel's - Uninstall section, but I've got an error message that the installation path was not found and I don't have privileges to do such action!

WTF???? Seriously?

Now what?!

... of course, I DID TRY to install / uninstall the program as "Administrator", but made no different! Something is VERY WRONG with this program!

Can you do a system restore to a point before you first tried to install X6?

Unfortunately not, it seems. ... I've checked it but it only shows today's setups and I don't think it would do any good. Probably I'm gonna have to do a full system recovery, which will take at least 2-3 days for me to restore all programs and content (1+ Terabytes of it)... Damn!

OK, I've re-installed the entire Windows 7, now installing programs. This time Video Studio installed correctly, HOWEVER:
- I've got the Video Studio X6 PRO window and NOT the Ultimate when I launch the program, that I'm supposed to have because that's what I purchased!
- I've got 2 download links from the purchase letter; One for Ultimate the other for the Ultimate Pack, but after installation, I still only have the X6 PRO launch screen, the red one, not the blue ULTIMATE screen.

Any ideas just what's wrong this time? :-/

I have the ultimate version of Video Studio and it starts with a red screen.

There is no difference in the Pro and Ultimate programs except the Ultimate is provided with a Bonus pack.

The Ultimate Bonus pack provides additional plug-ins for the program these are installed and can be seen via the FX library.
The ultimate bonus pack file is approx 1.4 Gb

Mercalli
Vitascene
Rotopen
Script
There is also some NewBlue content.

NOT CORRECT!
- Actually, as it turns out, the "purchase" letter contained the WRONG link!
- After realizing it, I've downloaded the "ULTIMATE" VS installer and it WAS different!
- During installation it indicated X6 ULTIMATE and not X6 PRO at the top!
- Upon successful installation, the launch screen is now the BLUE one with VS ULTIMATE on it, and not the "red" PRO!
- Also, in the program - HELP - About - Settings (little gears) it shows the BLUE image with ULTIMATE on it!
- Finally I've installed the Bonus package and now everything is fine!

So, it was a technical error by COREL!

Of course, now I have to download/install the "auto-music" library, the available templates, set-up the custom Video encoding modes and LEARN to use the new features, but the "main" problem was sold, by ME!

But THANK YOU BOTH for the feedback, I appreciated the help!
