tranfering from Jasc psp 9 to corel psp x4 HELP
I have had a lot of fun editing pictures and Photoshopping photos with jasc psp. My version stopped working so I decided to get the new version. This new version is nothing like I am used to. What is the best way to transition? I can not even figure out how to copy area and past onto another photo. Its discouraging considering I knew the other version so well.

Well....technically the best way to transition is slowly over time. I've owned every version of PSP from 9 onward and now that I'm on X5 most everything works as I expect it to.
I mean you're dealing with all of the changes Corel has made. From there just start like it's something new, since it is. You'll find that a number of functions work exactly as they did, and other things you're used to won't but once you get the hang of the differences you're pretty much good to go.
So what would you like to learn first?
By "Copy area and paste onto another photo" I'm assuming you mean make a selection and drag it onto another photo as a new layer. In which case, make your selection with the standard selection tools and do a simple Copy and Paste.
If you're talking about dragging a layer from one photo to another this is still possible. Under the "Window" menu you'll find an option to turn off tabbed documents. This will give you the old Windowed mode you're used to with PSP9. Then drag the layer from the layer palette onto the other image and it'll do an auto copy and paste.

Read the Help files.tapout wrote:What is the best way to transition?
Since you've been editing photos for a long time, you've already got the three main skills down pat: making selections, using layers, and using masks. Those skills will transfer very quickly to the new software and give you a good head start.
What I've always done with new graphics software is to go through the Help files from beginning to end, taking a little at a time and actually performing the functions as a test while reading their explanations.
