I am trying to burn a DVD of project size 4.96GB and standard DVDs are only 4.70GB. Is there a way I can reduce the project size?
I tried a double layer disc but assume that the software didn't recognise it because it said that the disc had only 3.93GB

Re: project size
Hi
I do not have Movie Factory installed but from memory you should be able to reduce the data rate thus reducing the file size.
The size bar to the bottom may be showing in Yellow or Red, should be in green to fit the disc.
Press the Settings/Properties cogwheel lower left for Mpeg properties for file conversion settings.
Then Change mpeg settings, Customise may be the best option, reduce the Video Data rate (compression tab.)
If the video you are using is DVD Mpeg2 compliant, you may have to deselect Do Not Convert Compliant mpegs. To force the conversion.
-------------------------
Audio settings, if you are using LPCM, changing this to Digital Dolby may reduce the file size enough without changing the Video Data Rate
Now view the size bar.
Menu type
Using Thumbnail menu will also reduce the size compared to Smart Scenes.
Duel Layer discs, change the panel disc size from DVD4.7G to use 8.5Gb,
Hope this helps

Re: project size
Trevor, Thanks for that help. I did as you suggested and successfully burned the DVD. However, when I tried to play it on my DVD player, it went so far and then just stopped. No amount of coaxing could get it to proceed. I tried it again later and it stopped again, but at a later point. I have tried to play it on my computer and it went perfectly until about three minutes before the end, when it kept "catching" - both video and audio. I do recall having this problem before and was advised by Corel, in the days when you could get support without paying extra for it (I can't see anywhere on their web site that this is now available) to burn at a lower speed. I tried this, but the button to change recording speed was greyed out.
I am at a loss with all of these weird problems. Again, in the past Corel have advised me to delete and reload the software when they have been unable to resolve an issue. I may have to be reduced to that - or perhaps splitting the project across two DVDs to see if that works.
