Can two incidents of VideoStudio X5 run at once
Greetings everyone. Does anyone know how to run two incidents of VideoStudio X5 at the same time. I've tried all the usual stuff. My purpose is to copy attributes from media in one project & apply it to media in another earlier version. I have twelve media items in each version and each has different attributes so is a stand alone copy & apply. Many effects have been customized in the recent version so (not that I'm not willing to put in the effort) doing this longhand would take forever and I need a shortcut. Perhaps the solution is by a different method. I appreciate any enlightenment anyone has on this.

The answer is no.
You can drag items with effects and attributes on the timeline back up to the library, and then use the items in the library in a new project.

Hi Don
Are you trying to open a project made with X5 is an earlier version, say X4.
If so that is possible but you have to save the project VSP for the earlier version,
How
File -- Save As
From the Save As window choose the “Save as type” you can revert two versions.
Is this what you are trying to do?
Otherwise can you explain a little further in what you are trying to do?

Re: Can two incidents of VideoStudio X5 run at once
Thanks for the helping hand.
To Kingston: I hadn't thought of that... I guess I could also use items from the recent version to replace items in the older version, thereby selectively updating it. Since I kept the older as my starting point I'll save it as something else and modify the new/ old version.
To Trevor: I have starting point and highly modified versions of the same project both in VS ProX5. In the project (both versions) I have 10 slides with background audio & 2 video clips with their own audio. I inherited multiple audio problems with the video clips. They are (#1) Congressional & (#2) state government committee hearings so can't be redone. In the new version I've split the whole audio track from the first #1 & repaired as best I could. I split approximately 1 second of audio from #2 because I found it impossible to repair the blurp without beginning & end absolutely identified. I dipped out the blurp & crossfaded in, ambient meeting room noise... you can't tell it's there.
I've found some capable audio plugins which are more comprehensive from the perspective of an old audio engineer. I also added a more realistic audio monitoring arrangement at which point I discovered other audio issues (problems for playback on the living room TV) in video #2. Although nothing has moved in the timeline, VS is detecting that the 1 second audio split is in the way of splitting the rest of the audio. It would be clumsy working on the audio track in 3 parts anyhow. I don't want to monkey with the time line or replace the modified clips with the originals. The latter is because I'd hate to have to rebuild my carefully honed transitions and such.
All of that said... I would like to selectively add new version attributes to the old version, split the entire audio track from both video clips & re-address the issues with some new plugins. I have Audacity & Mixpad in case I can't get it done in VS. I'd welcome any further thoughts.
Thanks again.
