Hi
I'm new to the forum. I stumble around and eventually figure things out (with a little help from my friends).
I've been using VS 5 for awhile. The sharpness filter, when you put it on a clip, goes from soft to hard as the clip progresses.
How do I set it so that the clip stays sharp- start to finish ?
Thanks in advance, Squirm114

Re: Using sharpness filter
Welcome to the forums!!
After you apply the filter, click on the Customize Filter button. If you can't see the filter box and 'Customize Filter', then look over at the extreme right of screen, half way down, and in blue you will see 'Options' and an upward pointing double arrow. Left click on that and two tabs will appear above that (and below the library) -- one labelled Video and the other Attributes, which should be the active one.
The new screen which appears when you click on Customize Filter will have two preview screens -- the first for the original look and the second to show what the filter does.
Under those screens, you will see a sort of timeline and below that a slider with 'Level' to its left. You set the degree of sharpness desired with that slider.
The start of video in the timeline is marked by a red diamond. Adjust the slider to the degree of sharpness you want. Note the number to the right of the slider. Then go to the diamond at the very end of the timeline and left click on it once. Note that the number next to the slider will have adjusted upwards. Set it back to the original number. That way the same degree of sharpness will be maintained throughout.
If you want to vary the degree of sharpness throughout the video, then move along the timeline to the point where you want the variation to begin. Then left double click in the grey area of the timeline. A new diamond will appear, and again you vary the slider to the degree of sharpness you want at that point. Add further diamonds (key frames) as desired, and vary their degree of sharpness.
This is also how you Customize the other filters that can be Customized...

Re: Using sharpness filter
You can also use copy and paste to maintain uniform sharpness across the clip or vary it.
